Rick Huckabay
Richard David Huckabay, Sr (November 25, 1945 – March 10, 2006) was an American basketball coach, best known for his years as head coach at Marshall University. Huckabay was born in Chicago but later moved with his family to Louisiana where he played high school baseball and basketball. He attended Louisiana Tech University and played baseball. After graduating, he became a high school basketball coach in that state. He then became an assistant coach at the Louisiana State University under Dale Brown (basketball), Dale Brown. In 1983 he was hired at Marshall, where he compiled a 129–59 record, including three appearances in the NCAA Division I men's basketball tournament, NCAA tournament and one in the National Invitation Tournament, NIT before resigning in 1989 amid an investigation into recruiting. The 1985 NCAA Division I men's basketball tournament involved 64 schools playing in single-elimination play to determine the national champion of men's NCAA Division I college basketball. This was the first year the field was expanded to 64 teams, from 53 in the previous year's tournament. It began on March 14, 1985, and ended with the championship game on April 1 in Lexington, Kentucky. A total of 63 games were played. The 1984 NCAA Division I men's basketball tournament involved 53 schools playing in single-elimination play to determine the national champion of men's NCAA Division I college basketball.
