Norman Riches
Norman Vaughan Hurry Riches (9 June 1883 – 6 November 1975) was a Welsh cricketer who played first-class cricket for Glamorgan from 1921 to 1934. Early life and education The son of C. H. Riches of Tredegarville, Cardiff, Norman Riches joined Abingdon School from Chard School in 1900. He was a first team member of the football and athletics team and played cricket for the Old Abingdonians. Career Riches worked as a dentist. A quick-footed, attacking batsman who was a shrewd judge of a quick run, he played cricket as an amateur for Glamorgan from 1901, initially as wicket-keeper. His first major innings was against Monmouth at Swansea when he scored 183 in 1904. Apart from two matches for Welsh teams against the touring South Africans in 1912, he played no first-class cricket until Glamorgan's initial season in the County Championship in 1921, when he captained the team, turning 38 during the season. The Riches
''The Riches'' (styled as ''the R1¢hes'') is an American drama television series which was originally broadcast from March 12, 2007, to April 29, 2008, on FX. The series stars Eddie Izzard and Minnie Driver as members of a family of Irish Travellers who "steal the American dream" by stealing the home and identities of a wealthy dead couple. The series received positive reviews but was cancelled after two seasons. History Originally named ''Low Life'', the show was created and head written by Dmitry Lipkin for Maverick Films and FX Networks. The one-hour pilot was written by Lipkin and Eddie Izzard, and directed by Carl Franklin. The pilot was then rethought and reshot over 10 days by Peter O'Fallon. It first aired on March 12, 2007, followed by a further 12 episodes. Additionally, the first two episodes were made available on the Internet prior to their television air dates. ''Riches'' is a limited edition compilation album that was temporarily included with the '' Raintown'' album by the Scottish rock band Deacon Blue, starting in February 1988. Only 20,000 copies were made. It contains the two bonus tracks that were included on the CD version of '' Raintown'', plus selected tracks and B-sides from the following single releases: * "Dignity" (1st release) * " Loaded" * " When Will You (Make My Telephone Ring)" (1st release) * "Dignity" (2nd release) The songs "Long Distance from Just Across the Road" (from Loaded), "Town to Be Blamed" (Live) (from When Will You Make My Telephone Ring (1st Release), and "Ronnie Spector" (from Dignity (2nd Release)) were not included, though "Ronnie Spector" was included on the follow-up compilation Ooh Las Vegas. Tom Hurry Riches
Tom Hurry Riches (1846–1911) was a British engineer who became the Locomotive Superintendent of the Taff Vale Railway in October 1873, and held the post until his death on 4 September 1911. At the time of his appointment, he was the youngest locomotive superintendent in Britain. Riches was elected as a Whitworth Exhibitioner in 1868. Riches served as President of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers between 1907–1908. His son, Charles T. Hurry Riches was Locomotive Superintendent of the Rhymney Railway from 1906 until 1922.
