Richardson Stadium is a stadium in Davidson, North Carolina. It is home to the Davidson Wildcats football, lacrosse, and track and field teams. The stadium incorporates both Stephen B. Smith Field and Irwin Belk Track. Richardson Stadium has a capacity for 6,000 people. Overview It has also hosted the NCAA Men's Soccer Championship on three occasions from 1992 to 1994. Every autumn the stadium acts as the start and finish of the Davidson freshman Cake Race, where incoming students run a course around the college in competition for cakes baked by inhabitants of the local community. The facility opened in 1923 as Richardson Field after being donated to the college by Lunsford Richardson Jr., Davidson class of 1914, and his brother Henry Smith Richardson, Davidson class of 1906, in memory of their father, Lunsford Richardson Sr., Davidson class of 1875. Davidson is a suburban town in Mecklenburg, Iredell, and Cabarrus counties, North Carolina, United States. It is a suburb in the Charlotte metropolitan area. The population was 15,106 at the 2020 census, up from 10,944 in 2010. The town was founded in 1837 with the establishment of the Presbyterian Davidson College, named for Brigadier General William Lee Davidson, a local Revolutionary War hero. The land for Davidson College came from Davidson's estate, a large portion of which was donated by his son. City Stadium is a stadium in Richmond, Virginia. It is owned by the City of Richmond and is located south of the Carytown district off the Downtown Expressway. The stadium was built in 1929 and seats approximately 22,000 people when both stands are used. It has been used by the Richmond Kickers of USL League One since 1995, at a capacity of 6,000. The stadium was used by the University of Richmond for American football from 1929 to 2009. The University of Richmond's final home football game at the stadium was played on December 5, 2009, against Appalachian State University in the quarterfinals of the Football Championship Subdivision playoffs. The University of South Florida athletic facilities are the stadiums and arenas the South Florida Bulls use for their home games and training. The University of South Florida currently sponsors 19 varsity athletic teams and has 11 facilities in the designated Athletics District on or adjacent to its Tampa, Florida, Tampa campus, one on its University of South Florida St. Petersburg, St. Petersburg campus, and one elsewhere in Tampa. 18 of the 19 teams have some sort of facility in the USF Athletics District.
