Richard Kingsmill
Richard Kingsmill is an Australian radio announcer and music journalist. He worked for ABC radio station triple j from 1988 until his redundancy in December 2023, and was the station's longest-serving presenter. From 2017 he was group music director of triple j, triple j Unearthed, Double J, ABC Country, and ABC Local Radio. Early life and education Richard Kingsmill studied mass communications at Macquarie University in the early 1980s. After working at community radio stations in Lismore, Kingsmill moved to Sydney to find a job, and did some training at educational radio station 2SER while studying at university. 2SER was run jointly by Macquarie University and the University of Technology Sydney. ''Home and Hosed'' is the flagship Australian music radio show airing on national youth broadcaster Triple J. It is currently hosted by Ash McGregor. The program was launched as ''The Local'' in 2003, replacing Richard Kingsmill's ''Australian Music Show,'' which aired from 1991. Forum theatre is a type of theatre created by Brazilian theatre director Augusto Boal. It is one of the techniques under the umbrella term of Theatre of the Oppressed (TO). Triple J's One Night Stand
One Night Stand is an annual music festival held in various regional Australian towns that is organised and promoted by national youth radio station Triple J. It started in 2004 in Natimuk, Victoria, and ran every year until 2019, with one break in 2015 for the broadcaster's Beat the Drum event. One Night Stand did not run for four years from 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but returned to Warrnambool, Victoria in 2024 despite a series of major Australian festivals cancelling due to financial difficulties. In the early years of the One Night Stand, the host town was selected in the form of a competition where residents of the town had to gain approval from their local government as well as find a suitable venue. Arnold Frolows
Arnold Frolows (15 January 1950 – 12 January 2025) was an Australian radio personality best known as music director at the Australian radio station triple j. Life and career Frolows started his career in music in 1970, as a manager of Virgin record stores in London. After returning to Australia in late 1974 he was hired as one of the foundation staff of Double Jay in Sydney, which began broadcasting in January 1975. He managed the record library and programming of the station. He temporarily returned to the United Kingdom where he was, among other things, head of A&R, at Virgin Records UK. In 1983, he re-joined triple j, where he took on the role of music director, a position that he held until his retirement from the station in 2003. Triple J Hottest 100 Of All Time, 2009
The Triple J Hottest 100 of All Time was a music poll conducted in 2009 amongst listeners of Australian youth radio network Triple J. Over half a million votes were compiled, with Nirvana's "Smells Like Teen Spirit" collecting the highest number of votes. Voters could submit a list of up to ten different songs as well as nominating one of these as their "all-time" favourite song. It was the fifth such poll organised by Triple J, following similar polls in 1989, 1990, 1991, and 1998. Initially, all songs were eligible for annual Triple J Hottest 100s, however, from 1993 onward (after having no list in 1992), only songs released in the previous year were permitted. Thus, the Hottest 100 of All Time is conducted via a separate vote, held irregularly to reflect listeners' favourite songs across all eras. Genesis Owusu
Kofi Owusu-Ansah (born 1998), known by his stage name Genesis Owusu, is a Ghanaian-Australian rapper and singer from Canberra. He is the younger brother of fellow hip hop rapper, Kojo Owusu-Ansah Citizen Kay. Owusu's debut studio album, '' Smiling with No Teeth'' (March 2021), reached the ARIA Albums Chart top 30.
