Richard Brooks (actor)
Richard L. Brooks (born December 9, 1962) is an American actor, singer, and director. He played the eccentric bounty hunter Jubal Early in the space-western ''Firefly'' and assistant district attorney Paul Robinette in the NBC drama series ''Law & Order'' from 1990 to 1993, later appearing as a defense attorney on that same show. In 2013, he began starring as Patrick Patterson in the BET drama series, '' Being Mary Jane''. Early life Born and raised in Cleveland, Ohio, Brooks studied acting, dance, and voice work at Interlochen Academy of Arts in Michigan. Later, he moved to New York City and was a student of the Circle in the Square Professional Theater School. A graduate of Grand Valley State University in Allendale Charter Township, Michigan, Duncan's career has been influenced by his Vietnam War experiences, which inspired the television miniseries ''Vietnam War Story'' (1987) and its sequel ''Vietnam War Story: The Last Days'' (1989) and the films '' 84C MoPic'' (1989) and ''Courage Under Fire'' (1996). ''84C MoPic'' (also known as ''84 Charlie MoPic''; released in the Philippines as ''Platoon 2'') is a 1989 American independent found footage war drama film written and directed by Patrick Sheane Duncan. Premise The film is a mock documentary of a Long Range Reconnaissance Patrol (LRRP) mission during the Vietnam War. ''Off Limits'' is a 1988 action-thriller film set during the Vietnam War starring Willem Dafoe and Gregory Hines and directed by Christopher Crowe. The term "off limits" referred to the area where the original crime took place, an area of Saigon off limits to military personnel.
