Rich Jeffries
Rich Jeffries (born Jefferson Ray Richards, September 1, 1938March 30, 2012) was an American television announcer. Early life Rich grew up in Atlanta, Georgia, and attended Bass High School. After being a drummer in a local band, Rich decided to enter show business and moved to Los Angeles, California, to pursue a career as a TV and movie actor. After appearing in bit roles on various television shows and movies, Rich worked as a lighting technician before beginning work for Mark Goodson Productions. Career Jeffries also was the first announcer of ''Super Password'' with Bert Convy in the mid 1980s. Among other shows he announced on were ''Password Plus'' and ''The Match Game-Hollywood Squares Hour'', substituting for Gene Wood; ''Time Machine'', where he subbed for Charlie Tuna, and ''Love Connection'', where he subbed for Wood. Love Connection
''Love Connection'' is an American television dating game show. Contestants selected one of three potential dates from a series of videotaped profiles, with a studio audience voting on which of the three partners they found most suitable. Originally hosted by Chuck Woolery, the show debuted in syndication on September 19, 1983, and ended on July 1, 1994, after 2,120 shows. Reruns continued to air until September 8, 1995. The series was relaunched for one season in 1998 under the same title with Pat Bullard as host. In 2017, the series returned on Fox with Andy Cohen hosting. This second revival ran for two seasons. Johnny Gilbert
John Lewis Gilbert III (born July 13, 1928) is an American show business personality who has worked mainly on television game shows. Originally a nightclub singer and entertainer, he has hosted and announced a number of game shows from various eras, dating as far back as the 1950s. He is known primarily for his work as the announcer and audience host for the syndicated version of the quiz show ''Jeopardy!'' since its revival in 1984. Gene Wood
Eugene Edward Wood (October 20, 1925 – May 21, 2004) was an American television personality, known primarily for his work as an announcer on various game shows. From the 1950s to the 1990s, he announced many game shows, primarily Mark Goodson– Bill Todman productions such as '' Family Feud'', '' Classic Concentration'', ''Card Sharks'', ''Password'', and ''Beat the Clock''. Wood also served a brief stint as a host on this last show, and on another show, '' Anything You Can Do''. Pulmonary Fibrosis
Pulmonary fibrosis is a condition in which the lungs become scarred over time. Symptoms include shortness of breath, a dry cough, feeling tired, weight loss, and nail clubbing. Complications may include pulmonary hypertension, respiratory failure, pneumothorax, and lung cancer. Causes include environmental pollution, certain medications, connective tissue diseases, infections, and interstitial lung diseases. But in most cases the cause is unknown ( idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis). Diagnosis may be based on symptoms, medical imaging, lung biopsy, and lung function tests. No cure exists and treatment options are limited. Treatment is directed toward improving symptoms and may include oxygen therapy and pulmonary rehabilitation. Rod Roddy
Robert Ray "Rod" Roddy (September 28, 1937 – October 27, 2003) was an American radio and television announcer. He was primarily known for his role as an offstage announcer on game shows. Among the shows that Roddy announced are the CBS game shows '' Whew!'' and ''Press Your Luck.'' Roddy is widely recognized by the signature line, "Come on down!" from ''The Price Is Right'', and it appears on his grave marker, although the phrase was originated and made popular by his predecessor Johnny Olson. Roddy succeeded original announcer Olson on ''The Price Is Right'' and held the role from 1986 until his death in 2003, and as of 2022, is the longest-serving announcer on the current incarnation of the show. Johnny Olson
John Leonard Olson (May 22, 1910 – October 12, 1985) was an American radio personality and television announcer. Olson is perhaps best known for his work as an announcer for game shows, particularly the work he did for Mark Goodson-Bill Todman Productions. Olson was the longtime announcer for the original ''To Tell the Truth'' and ''What's My Line?'', and spent over a decade as the announcer for both ''Match Game'' and ''The Price Is Right'', working on the latter series at the time of his death. Arthur W. Ferguson (April 18, 1944 – February 19, 2016), known professionally as Charlie Tuna, was a radio personality and television host based in Los Angeles, California. Career Radio At age 16, Tuna began working at his hometown's radio station, KGFW. Then, he went to work at KLEO in Wichita, Kansas, for a year with the air name "Billy O'Day". He then worked for KOMA Radio in Oklahoma City in 1966, where he took over the "Charlie Tuna" pseudonym from Chuck Riley, who had used it for one show the week before Tuna's arrival.
