Retour à La Base
The Retour à la base, formerly Transat B to B (short for "back to Brittany") is a transatlantic single-handed yacht race exclusive to IMOCA 60 yachts, which first took place in 2007. It was introduced as a return race from destination of the Transat Jacques Vabre to Brittany, Metropolitan France, home to most IMOCA teams. Since its introduction it was held every four years in the year before the Vendée Globe except 2019. A crewed edition was planned for 2021 but was cancelled later. It was held as a qualification race for the 2024–2025 Vendée Globe following the Transat Jacques Vabre in the 2023 IMOCA 60 race calendar. 32 skippers started the race. International Monohull Open Classes Association
The International Monohull Open Class Association (IMOCA) is the governing body of the IMOCA class. Its main task is to design the class regulations for the ocean racing yachts IMOCA 60 and organising single-handed regattas. It was established in 1991. IMOCA has been a member of World Sailing (governing body of international sailing sport) since 1999. Samantha "Sam" Davies (born 23 August 1974 in Portsmouth) is an English yachtswoman. Personal life Davies went to school at Portsmouth High School and received a degree in mechanical engineering from St John's College, Cambridge. She now lives in Kerlin ( Trégunc), Brittany, France. She has a son, Ruben, whom she shares with her ex-partner, fellow offshore sailor Romain Attanasio. Biography Samantha Davies came into the limelight with her 2008-2009 single-handed world circumnavigation in the Vendée Globe race, where she placed fourth. Bernard Stamm
Bernard Stamm, is a Swiss professional yachtsman, born on 29 November 1963 in Geneva, Switzerland. He is an offshore sailor who has started the Vendee Globe, Vend2016-2017 Vendée Globe, ée Globe three times but never officially completed the course. He did not have any luck starting in the 2000-2001 Vendee Globe, 2000-2001 edition of the race where he retired after a week of racing because of auto pilot failure. In 2004-2005 Vendee Globe, 2004-2005, he lost his keel in the Transat race five months before the start so didn't make the start.
