Regional Rail Link
Regional Rail Link (RRL) is the name of a project to build a length of railway through the western suburbs of Melbourne, Victoria. The name is also colloquially used to refer to the rail alignment constructed as part of the project. The project aimed to increase rail capacity by separating regional services on the Geelong, Ballarat and Bendigo corridors from suburban services on the Werribee and Sunbury lines, while also serving new housing developments in the Tarneit and Wyndham Vale areas with a rail connection to the city. A pair of new, non-electrified tracks were constructed from Southern Cross to Sunshine along a new alignment over the Maribyrnong River; this new alignment controversially bypasses North Melbourne station. Wyndham Vale railway station is a regional railway station on the Deer Park-West Werribee line, part of the Victorian railway network. It serves the western Melbourne suburb of Manor Lakes, which was part of Wyndham Vale until being gazetted as a separate suburb in March 2016, nine months after the station opened. Wyndham Vale station is a ground level premium station, featuring two side platforms. It opened on 14 June 2015. Built as part of the Regional Rail Link project, it was officially opened on 14 June 2015 by Premier Daniel Andrews and the federal Minister for Infrastructure and Regional Development, Warren Truss, with services commencing on 21 June 2015. Warrnambool Railway Line
The Warrnambool railway line is a railway serving the south west of Victoria, Australia. Running from the western Melbourne suburb of Newport, Victoria, Newport through the cities of Geelong and Warrnambool, the line once terminated at the coastal town of Port Fairy, Victoria, Port Fairy before being truncated to Dennington, Victoria, Dennington (just west of Warrnambool).
