Region Värmland
Region Värmland, formerly known as Värmland County Council () is the regional council for Värmland County, Sweden. The Region is primarily responsible for healthcare, public transport, cultural policies, and education within the county. The Region was established on 1 January 2019 following the merger of the County Council, Värmlandstrafik, Karlstadsbuss, and the Kommunalförbundet Region Värmland. History Before becoming Region Värmland, the entity was known as Värmland County Council. In 2001, a cooperative entity named Kommunalförbundet Region Värmland ''("Värmland Region Local Government Association")'' was established to promote regional development and cooperation between the municipalities and the county council. In 2019, this evolved into the current regional structure. Karlstad
Karlstad (, ) is the 20th-largest city in Sweden, the seat of Karlstad Municipality, the capital of Värmland County, and the largest city in the province Värmland in Sweden. The city proper had 67,122 inhabitants in 2020 with 97,233 inhabitants in the wider municipality in 2023, and is the 21st largest municipality in Sweden. Karlstad has a university and a cathedral. Värmland County
Värmland County () is a county or '' län'' in west central Sweden. It borders the Swedish counties of Dalarna, Örebro and Västra Götaland, as well as the Norwegian counties of Østfold, Akershus and Innlandet to the west. The title of Duke of Värmland is claimed by His Royal Highness Prince Carl Philip. Arvika
Arvika is a locality and the seat of Arvika Municipality, Värmland County, Sweden with 14,244 inhabitants in 2010. Geography The town of Arvika is situated at Kyrkviken, a bay of Glafsfjorden, Sweden's only inland fjord, a remnant of the time following the last ice age (once a fjord of the Ancylus Lake). The town is located approximately 380 km west of Stockholm, 250 km north of Gothenburg, 150 km east of Oslo, and 50 km from the Norwegian border.
