Reggie Witherspoon (basketball)
Phillip Reginald Witherspoon (born February 21, 1961) is an American college basketball coach who is the former men's basketball head coach of the Canisius Golden Griffins men's basketball, Canisius Golden Griffins and the Buffalo Bulls men's basketball, Buffalo Bulls. Witherspoon played college basketball at Erie Kats, Erie Community College under John Beilein and then at Wheeling Cardinals, Wheeling Jesuit under Jim O'Brien (basketball, born 1952), Jim O'Brien. He was the head coach at Erie Community College, and head coach and assistant coach at Sweet Home High School (Amherst, New York), Sweet Home High School before he was hired as the interim head coach at Buffalo in December 1999. John Patrick Beilein ( ; born February 5, 1953) is an American professional basketball coach who currently serves as a college basketball analyst for the Big Ten Network. Before being hired by the Big Ten Network, Beilein served as the head coach of the Cleveland Cavaliers of the National Basketball Association (NBA). The 2018 College Basketball Invitational (CBI) was a single-elimination tournament, single-elimination men's college basketball tournament consisting of 16 National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division I (NCAA), Division I teams that did not participate in the 2018 NCAA Men's Division I Basketball Tournament or the 2018 National Invitation Tournament, NIT. 2017–18 Canisius Golden Griffins Men's Basketball Team
The 2017–18 Canisius Golden Griffins men's basketball team represented Canisius University during the 2017–18 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The Golden Griffins, led by second-year head coach Reggie Witherspoon, played their home games at the Koessler Athletic Center in Buffalo, New York as members of the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC). They finished the season 21–11, 15–3 in MAAC play, to finish in a share for the MAAC regular-season title with Rider. It was the Golden Griffins' first conference regular-season title since 1994. Jim Baron
James Edward Baron (born March 20, 1954) is a retired American college basketball coach. He previously held the position of head coach at Saint Francis University, St. Bonaventure University, the University of Rhode Island and Canisius College. Playing career Baron lettered in basketball for four years (1973 to 1977) at St. Bonaventure University and helped St. Bonaventure win the 1977 National Invitation Tournament as a senior. Baron graduated from St. Bonaventure with a degree in physical education in 1977 and later earned a master's degree in counseling from the same institution in 1988. Matthew Wayne McCall (born December 12, 1981) is an American college basketball coach. He was the head men's basketball coach at the University of Tennessee - Chattanooga and the University of Massachusetts Amherst (UMass). Coaching career McCall was a student manager at the University of Florida during the 2002–03 season. He was named head manager the following year. Avery DeWitt Johnson (born March 25, 1965) is an American basketball television commentator, former player and coach who previously served as head coach of the Alabama Crimson Tide men's basketball team. He is an NBA and college basketball analyst for CBS Sports. Anthony Duvale Grant (born April 15, 1966) is an American basketball coach who is the head men's basketball coach at the University of Dayton. Prior to that, he was the head coach at Virginia Commonwealth University from 2006 to 2009, and at the University of Alabama from 2009 to 2015.
