Reds de la Ciudad de México (English: ''Mexico City Reds'') are an American football team based in Mexico City, Mexico. The Reds compete in the Liga de Fútbol Americano Profesional, the top American football league in Mexico. The team plays its home games at the Estadio ITESM CCM. History Beginnings The team was established in 2020 as Rojos de Lindavista and joined Fútbol Americano de México (FAM) as an expansion team to compete in the 2020 season; nevertheless, the season was canceled in March 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic in Mexico, COVID-19 pandemic with only four games played (the Rojos had a 1–3 record at the moment that the season was canceled). Raúl Rivera era (2020–present) In October 2020, the team was rebranded as Rojos CDMX and Raúl Rivera, who previously led Pumas CU to several college championships, was appointed as head coach. Tlalpan
Tlalpan ( , 'place on the earth') is a Boroughs of Mexico City, borough (''demarcación territorial'') in Mexico City. It is the largest borough, with over 80% under conservation as forest and other ecologically sensitive area. The rest, almost all of it on the northern edge, has been urban since the mid-20th century. When it was created in 1928, it was named after the most important settlement of the area, Tlalpan, which is referred to as “Tlalpan center” (Tlalpan centro) to distinguish it from the borough. This center, despite being in the urbanized zone, still retains much of its provincial atmosphere with colonial era mansions and cobblestone streets. 2023 LFA Season
The 2023 LFA season is the eight season of operation (seventh season of play) of the Liga de Fútbol Americano Profesional (LFA), the top American football league in Mexico. The regular season began on 4 March and will end on 14 May, with the playoffs beginning on 20 May and ending with the Tazón México VI, on 10 June in Chihuahua City. Preseason events Expansion Three new teams joined the league for the 2023 season: Caudillos de Chihuahua (based in Chihuahua City), Jefes de Ciudad Juárez (based in Ciudad Juárez) and Reds de la Ciudad de México (based in Mexico City). Quinten Pounds (born December 31, 1996) is an American football wide receiver who is a free agent. He also played for the Cologne Centurions of the European League of Football. He played college football for the University of Washington. Early life Pounds was born in Cypress, California and went to Cypress High School, where he participated in basketball and track and field as a high jumper, in addition to football. The Estadio Jesús Martínez "Palillo" is a multi-use stadium located in the Magdalena Mixhuca Sports City in Mexico City. It is currently the home of the Mexicas of the Liga de Fútbol Americano Profesional (LFA), Chilangos F.C. of the Serie B de México, Neza and Proyecto RED of the Liga de Balompié Mexicano. Caudillos de Chihuahua are an American football team based in Chihuahua City, Mexico. The Caudillos compete in the Liga de Fútbol Americano Profesional (LFA), the top American football league in Mexico. The team plays its home games at the Estadio Olímpico Universitario José Reyes Baeza. History The team was announced on 1 August 2019 by Jorge Ginther, team owner and president, as an expansion franchise of Fútbol Americano de México for the 2020 season. In the press conference Ginther also announce that the head coach would be Mauricio Balderrama and the team had no name yet, and it would be chosen by the fans by a Facebook poll. The Cabo Marlins were an American football team based in Cabo San Lucas, Baja California Sur, Mexico. The Marlins competed in Fútbol Americano de México (FAM). The team was founded in 2020 and played their home games at Don Koll Stadium in Cabo San Lucas. The Marlins were the first professional American football team in the state. Their local fans are referred to as the "Marlins Mania". For the 2020 season, the team signed former NFL player Tony Simmons to be the inaugural head coach.
