Redkino, Konakovsky District, Tver Oblast
Redkino (russian: Ре́дкино) is an urban locality (an urban-type settlement) in Konakovsky District of Tver Oblast, Russia, located about northwest of Moscow. Population: History Redkino was known as a village since at least 16th century. In 1851, a railway station was open. In the second half of the 19th century, the peat extraction started, but the peat production factory which was built in Redkino in 1902 burned to the ground in 1907, and it only was rebuilt in 1918. Also in the second half of the 19th century, a textile factory and a ski factory were built. In 1937, when the nearby Ivankovo Reservoir was filling up, many inhabitants were resettled from the villages to be submerged under water into Redkino. In 1939, Redkino was granted urban-type settlement status. During World War II, Redkino was occupied by German troops for a month in November–December 1941. Tver Oblast
Tver Oblast (russian: Тверска́я о́бласть, ''Tverskaya oblast'', ), from 1935 to 1990 known as Kalinin Oblast (), is a federal subject of Russia (an oblast). Its administrative center is the city of Tver. It was named after Mikhail Kalinin, the Soviet revolutionary. Population: 1,353,392 ( 2010 Census). The M10 "Russia" (russian: "Россия") is a federal highway in Russia connecting the country's two largest cities, Moscow and Saint Petersburg. Other than in the vicinity of Moscow and Saint Petersburg, the M10 is basically a two-lane highway (one lane for each direction), with an occasional third centre lane to allow overtaking or for left-turning traffic at intersections. The Leningradsky suburban railway line (russian: Ленинградское направление Октябрьской железной дороги) is one of eleven railway lines used for suburban railway connections between Moscow, Russia, and surrounding areas in Moscow Oblast and Tver Oblast. Novozavidovsky (russian: Новозави́довский) is an urban locality (an urban-type settlement) in Konakovsky District of Tver Oblast, Russia, located on the right bank of the Shosha River (the Ivankovo Reservoir). Population: History In 1851, a railway station was open, and in 1866, the textile (wool) factory was constructed close to the station by merchant Varentsov. Novozavidovsky originated as the settlement around the station and the factory. In 1913, the name of the settlement was Alexandrovka; it is not exactly clear when the name Novozavidovsky began to be used. The name of the station originates from Zavidovo, a nearby village and currently a residence of the President of Russia, and the name of the settlement was transferred from the name of the station.
