Redbergslids IK
Redbergslids IK (RIK), is a professional handball team from Gothenburg, Sweden founded in 1916. Redbergslid is the most successful club in Sweden, having won 20 Swedish Championship titles. Home games are played in Prioritet Serneke Arena. Redbergslid is the only Scandinavian club to win the EHF Champions League (1959). They also reached the final of the EHF Cup Winner's Cup in 2003. Noted players of the club include Peter Gentzel, Stefan Lövgren, Ljubomir Vranjes, Magnus Wislander and Andreas Palicka. In the 2022/2023 season Redbergslid were relegated from the Handbollsligan, top Swedish league, after spending 40 years straight (82 in total) in the top league. After being relegated from Allsvenskan (men's handball), the second Swedisk league in 2023/2024, they went undefeated through the third division (Division 1 södra) 2024/2025 and will be playing in the Allsvenskan (men's handball), second Swedish league 2025/2026. Magnus Wislander
Hans Einar Magnus Wislander (born 22 February 1964) is a Swedish former handball player, who has been voted ''Handball Player of the Century'' and is widely regarded as one of the best players ever. Since his debut in the national team in 1985 he has played over 384 games and scored over 1,185 goals, which is the record for both most matches and most goals on the Sweden national team. He played for Redbergslids IK, Gothenburg and THW Kiel. In 1990 he was named IHF World Player of the Year. He was included in the European Handball Federation Hall of Fame in 2023. He played primarily as a centre back, but in his latter years he transitioned to be a pivot. He has earned the nickname 'Slangen' (The hose). Handball (also known as team handball, European handball, Olympic handball or indoor handball) is a team sport in which two teams of seven players each (six outcourt players and a goalkeeper) pass a ball using their hands with the aim of throwing it into the goal of the opposing team. Allsvenskan (; ), also known as Fotbollsallsvenskan (, ) is a professional association football league in Sweden and the highest level of the Swedish football league system. Founded in 1924, it operates on a system of promotion and relegation with Superettan, the second highest league in the Swedish men's football league system. Seasons run from late March or early April to the beginning of November, with the 16 clubs all meeting each other twice, resulting in a 30-match season, for a total of 240 matches league-wide. Allsvenskan is ranked 23rd in the UEFA coefficients of leagues based on performances in European competitions over the last five years. Allsvenskan (men's Handball)
Allsvenskan is the Swedish second division in men's team handball. Earlier, the name was used by the top division between 1934 and 1990. The league is organized by the Swedish Handball Federation. Format Since the 2007-08 season the league has had the same format. The league has 14 teams which meet in a double round-robin, resulting in 26 rounds. The winner of the Allsvenskan is promoted to the Handbollsligan. The 2nd, 3rd and 4th place enter a qualification play-off mini-tournament against the 11th, 12th and 13th placed teams in the Handbollsligan. The bottom two teams are relegated to Division 1. The 12th and 13th placed team enter a relegation playoff. Andreas Palicka
Andreas Miroslav Palicka (; , ; born 10 July 1986) is a Swedish professional handball player for Paris Saint-Germain and the Swedish national team. Club career Palicka began his professional handball career at Redbergslids IK in 2002. He joined German club THW Kiel in 2008, and won the German Championship and German Cup in his debut season with the team. Palicka went on to win five additional league titles, three additional cup titles, the EHF Champions League twice, the IHF Super Globe, and four German Super Cup titles during his time with the club. In 2015, he moved to Danish side Aalborg Håndbold. Following a season with the club, Palicka returned to Germany and signed for Rhein-Neckar Löwen in 2016. Ljubomir Vranjes
Ljubomir Vranjes (born 3 October 1973) is a Swedish handball coach and former player who competed at the 2000 Summer Olympics. He is currently the sporting director of German team SG Flensburg-Handewitt. He was inducted into the EHF Hall of Fame in 2024. Career Club Vranjes played with Redbergslids IK for eight years, between 1991 and 1999, and has won five Swedish championship titles (1992–93, 1993–94, 1995–96, 1996–97, and 1997–98). National team Vranjes was a member of the Swedish national team for eleven years, between 1996 and 2007. With Sweden, he won the European Handball Championship three times (1998, 2000, and 2002), and the World Handball Championship once, in 1999. He also won the silver medal at the 2000 Summer Olympics.
