Red Line (Doha Metro)
The Red Line is a rapid transit line of the Doha Metro in Qatar Qatar, officially the State of Qatar, is a country in West Asia. It occupies the Geography of Qatar, Qatar Peninsula on the northeastern coast of the Arabian Peninsula in the Middle East; it shares Qatar–Saudi Arabia border, its sole land b .... It runs north-south through Doha and its southern terminus of Al Wakrah and its northern terminus of Lusail, with a spur serving Hamad International Airport. It was the first line of the system, with the first segment opened on 8 May 2019. Operation At first, the line was only open from 8:00 AM to 11:00 PM Sunday–Thursday. Later, it added weekend hours of 2:00 PM – 11:00 PM on Friday and 6:00 AM – 11:00 PM on Saturday, and also extended the weekday timings to 6:00 AM – 11:00 PM. Lusail Tram (), is a light rail network serving the city of Lusail, Qatar. Background The Lusail Tram was initially aimed at enhancing connectivity between key areas during the 2022 World Cup, but is now rapidly becoming a part of the city's transportation network. The tram network consists of two lines and with another two being planned. The first preview of its first phase was on 1 January 2022, with the preview of the Orange Line, which had six original underground air-conditioned stations with future expansions planned to be gradually opened to the public. Msheireb () is a rapid transit station in Doha, Qatar located between Msheireb Downtown Doha and Mushayrib. It serves as a transfer station for the Red Line (Doha Metro), Red, Gold Line (Doha Metro), Gold and Green Line (Doha Metro), Green lines of the Doha Metro and is considered the largest station in the city. History In 2015, the station was planned to be completed by mid-2018, with six out of the 12 tunnel boring machine breakthroughs necessary completed.
