Heide Candy Company
Heide Candy Company is a subsidiary of candy manufacturer Ferrara Candy Company. History The Henry Heide Candy Company was founded in 1869 by Henry Heide, who immigrated to the United States from Obermarsberg, Westphalia, Germany. Jujyfruits began production in 1920. Original flavors included lilac, violet, rose, spearmint, and lemon. Rose and spearmint have been changed to cherry and lime, as a result of flavor availability." The current flavor lineup is lemon (yellow), anise (black), orange (orange), lime (green), and raspberry (red). They were popular in movie houses along with Heide's other gummy candy, Jujubes. Chocolate-covered raisins are a candy consisting of individual raisins coated in a shell of milk, dark or white chocolate. Pixy Stix are a sweet and sour colored powdered candy usually packaged in a wrapper that resembles a drinking straw. The candy is lightly poured into the mouth from the wrapper, which is made out of either plastic or paper. Pixy Stix contain dextrose, citric acid, and artificial and natural flavors. Oh Henry! was an American candy bar containing peanuts, caramel, and fudge coated in chocolate, sold in the U.S. until 2019. A slightly different version of it is still manufactured and sold in Canada. The original version is still sold in the U.S. by Hershey, under the name Rally. Now and Later is an American brand of fruit-flavored taffy-like candy manufactured by Ferrara Candy Company. The candy is formed into squares packaged in colorful paper. Twelve flavors are currently available in both Traditional and Chewy varieties. History Now and Later was created in Brooklyn, New York in 1962 by The Phoenix Candy Company. The name ''Now and Later'' was meant to suggest to customers that they are going to like them ''now'' and then want some more ''later''. Lemonhead (candy)
Lemonhead is an American brand of candy that was first introduced in 1962 and is produced by the Ferrara Candy Company. Lemonheads are a round, lemon flavored candy consisting of a sweet coating, a soft sour shell, and a hard candy core. Inspiration for the Lemonhead name came from Salvatore Ferrara seeing his grandson, Salvatore II, after delivery. Salvatore II was a forceps baby and he noted that his new grandson's head was lemon shaped. The candy was born out of the same cold panned process as the company's Red Hots in 1962. In this process, layer after layer of sugar and flavor are added until the candy reaches the desired shape and size.
