Red Desert (film)
''Red Desert'' () is a 1964 psychological drama film directed by Michelangelo Antonioni and starring Monica Vitti and Richard Harris. Written by Antonioni and Tonino Guerra, it was Antonioni's first color film. Set in Northern Italy, the story follows a troubled woman who is unable to adapt to her environment after an automobile accident. ''Red Desert'' was awarded the Golden Lion at the 25th Venice International Film Festival in 1964. It has received acclaim from critics. This was the last in a series of four films he made with Vitti between 1959 and 1964, preceded by ''L'Avventura'' (1960), '' La Notte'' (1961), and ''L'Eclisse'' (1962). Michelangelo Antonioni
Michelangelo Antonioni ( ; ; 29 September 1912 – 30 July 2007) was an Italian film director, screenwriter, and editor. He is best known for his "trilogy on modernity and its discontents", ''L'Avventura'' (1960), ''La Notte'' (1961), and ''L'Eclisse'' (1962); the English-language film ''Blowup'' (1966); and the multilingual '' The Passenger (1975 film), The Passenger'' (1975). La Notte
''La Notte'' (; ) is a 1961 drama film co-written and directed by Michelangelo Antonioni and starring Marcello Mastroianni, Jeanne Moreau and Monica Vitti. Filmed on location in Milan, the film depicts a single day and night in the lives of a disillusioned novelist (Mastroianni) and his alienated wife (Moreau) as they move through various social circles. The film continues Antonioni's technique of abandoning traditional storytelling in favor of visual composition, atmosphere, and mood. Grossing 470 million lire and receiving acclaim for its exploration of modernist themes of isolation, ''La Notte'' received the Golden Bear at the 11th Berlin International Film Festival. In filmmaking, Foley is the reproduction of everyday sound effects that are added to films, videos, and other media in post-production to enhance audio quality. It is named after sound-effects artist Jack Foley. Foley sounds are used to enhance the auditory experience of a movie. They can be anything from the swishing of clothing and footsteps to squeaky doors and breaking glass. Rita Renoir (19 January 1934 – 4 May 2016) was a French strip-teaser and actress. Biography Renoir was the Vedette of the Crazy Horse Saloon, in Paris, between the 1950s and 1960s, becoming one of the most famous European strip-teasers. Xenia Valderi (21 January 1926 – 3 November 2008) was a Dalmatian Italian actress. Medicina ( Bolognese: ; Eastern Bolognese: ) is an Italian ''comune'' with c. 16,000 inhabitants in the Metropolitan City of Bologna, part of the region of Emilia-Romagna.
