Red Bays (also known as Red Bay) is a village in the north-west of the Bahamian archipelago of Andros. It is the only settlement on the western coast of Andros and is around 23 kilometers (14 miles) away from the San Andros Airport. Andros, The Bahamas
Andros is an archipelago in The Bahamas, the largest of the Bahamian Islands. Politically considered a single island, Andros in total has an area greater than all the other 700 Bahamian islands combined. The land area of Andros consists of hundreds of small islets and cays connected by mangrove estuaries and tidal swamplands, together with three major islands: North Andros, Mangrove Cay, and South Andros. The three main islands are separated by bights, estuaries that trifurcate the island from east to west. It is long by wide at the widest point. Etymology The indigenous Lucayan people called the island ''Habacoa'' (or ''Babucca'') meaning "large upper outer land". Originally named ''Espiritu Santu'' by the Spanish, Andros Island was given its present name sometime early during the period of British colonial rule. San Andros Airport
San Andros Airport is an airport near Nicholls Town on Andros Island in The Bahamas. Facilities The airport resides at an elevation of above mean sea level. It has one runway designated 12/30 with a bitumen surface measuring . Black Seminoles
The Black Seminoles, or Afro-Seminoles, are an ethnic group of mixed Native Americans in the United States, Native American and African American, African origin associated with the Seminole people in Florida and Oklahoma. They are mostly blood descendants of the Seminole people, free Negro, free Africans, and escaped former slavery in the United States, slaves, who allied with Seminole groups in Spanish Florida. Many have Seminole lineage, but due to the stigma of having mixed origin, they have all been categorized as slaves or Freedmen in the past.
