Real Madrid Baloncesto (English: Royal Madrid Basketball) is a Spanish professional basketball club that was founded in 1931, as a division of Real Madrid CF. They play domestically in the Liga ACB, and internationally in the EuroLeague. They are widely regarded as one of the greatest basketball clubs in Europe. Real Madrid currently ranks first in the European professional basketball club rankings. Similarly to the Real Madrid athletic association football club, the basketball team has been the most successful of its peers in both Spain and Europe. Liga ACB
The Liga ACB, known as Liga Endesa for sponsorship reasons, is the top professional basketball division of the Spanish basketball league system. Administered by the Asociación de Clubs de Baloncesto (ACB), Liga ACB is contested by 18 teams, with the two lowest-placed teams Promotion and relegation, relegated to the Primera FEB and replaced by the top team in that division plus the winner of the promotion playoffs. The competition was founded as the ACB Primera División on 1983 following the decision of clubs in the Liga Española de Baloncesto (1957–1983), Liga Nacional, founded in 1957, to break away from the Spanish Basketball Federation and professionalize the league. European Professional Basketball Club Rankings
The European professional basketball club rankings are determined by the results of the professional basketball clubs in the EuroLeague and the EuroCup over the previous three seasons, excluding the competition's qualifying rounds. This ranking is exhaustive and does not include all the European club as it is based on closed ligue participation. The FIBA proposes its own alternative rankings. The clubs receive two points for a win and one point for a tie or loss, in games of the main stages (and onwards) of the EuroLeague and the EuroCup. Qualifying round results are not taken into account. Clubs also receive 2 bonus points for reaching the Top 16 stage of the EuroCup, 2 bonus points for reaching the last 8 stage, one bonus point for reaching the last 4 stage, and 1 bonus point for reaching the Finals. Felipe Reyes
Felipe Reyes Cabanás (born 16 March 1980) is a Spanish former professional basketball player. He represented the senior Spain national team. Standing at a height of , and weighing , he plays at the power forward and center positions. During his pro club career, Reyes won two EuroLeague championships, in 2015 and 2018. He was also an All-EuroLeague First Team selection in the EuroLeague 2014–15 season. He was named a EuroLeague Legend in 2022. Rodolfo "Rudy" Fernández Farrés (; born 4 April 1985) is a Spanish former professional basketball player who spent the majority of his career for Real Madrid of the Spanish Liga ACB and the EuroLeague. Dražen Petrović (; 22 October 1964 – 7 June 1993) was a Yugoslav and Croatian professional basketball player. Arvydas Romas Sabonis (; born 19 December 1964) is a Lithuanian former professional basketball player and businessman. Sabonis won the Euroscar six times and the Mr. Europa Award twice. He played in a variety of leagues, including the Spanish ACB League, and spent seven seasons in the National Basketball Association (NBA). Playing the center position, Sabonis won a gold medal at the 1988 Summer Olympics, in South Korea, for the Soviet Union, and later earned bronze medals at the 1992 Olympic Games and 1996 Olympic Games representing Lithuania.
