Reactivate
The ''Reactivate'' series was a compilation album series known for pioneering electronic techno and trance music, trance music. With 18 releases, and a number of best-of compilations, the series has achieved both chart success and over a million record sales. The albums were published by UK-based React Music over a 24-year period starting from 1991. The Reactivate sound has been reported as significant in the international rave music scene. History The first in the series, ''Reactivate Volume #1 - The Belgian Techno Anthems'', was launched by James Horrocks in 1991. Horrocks and React Music Limited, React published the series to capture the music typically heard on club nights, and distribute hard to get European rave and techno music. Rachel Auburn
Rachel Auburn (born 1958) is a British fashion designer and hard house and trance disc jockey and music producer. She has performed her music extensively internationally, and was both the first female DJ to play in China and the first to showcase 1980s London clubland fashion in New York and Tokyo. Auburn has held DJ residencies at club events including Tidy Trax, Taboo, and Trade, and has achieved UK chart success under her own name and the Tidy Girls and Candy Girls aliases. Biography Auburn is known for her "unconventional" and "experimental" fashion designs. She first set up a stall in Kensington Market in 1982, and went on to be a significant presence as both a designer and a disc jockey in London's clubland. She first met Leigh Bowery at the market, and together they went on to open a stall together called 'Spend Spend Spend' and were the first to showcase the 1980s London clubland fashion scene in New York and Tokyo organised by Susanne Bartsch. React Music Limited was a British, London-based independent record label, that was formed in 1990 by James Horrocks and Thomas Foley. James Horrocks was initially involved with successful dance music independent Rhythm King, and React pursued a similar approach — specifically electronic dance music, house music, acid house, techno and rave, along with newer "dance" oriented subgenres which emerged throughout the 1990s. These included hard house, tech house, trance, hardbag, happy hardcore, drum and bass and chill out. Artists React enjoyed commercial success within the dance/club scene. John '00' Fleming
John Fleming (or John "00" Fleming; born 1 April 1969) is an English trance producer and DJ from Worthing, West Sussex. He has had releases on record labels such as Ministry of Sound, Deconstruction Records, Logic Records, and 3 Beat Music. He also owns and runJoof Recordings He has performed at many clubs including Cream, Gatecrasher, Ministry of Sound, and Godskitchen. In his early 20s, Fleming battled lung cancer. Fleming was originally involved in goa music, but changed over to harder trance music before shifting to psychedelic trance. A rave (from the verb: '' to rave'') is a dance party at a warehouse, club, or other public or private venue, typically featuring performances by DJs playing electronic dance music. The style is most associated with the early 1990s dance music scene when DJs played at illegal events in musical styles dominated by electronic dance music from a wide range of sub-genres, including techno, hardcore, house, and alternative dance. Occasionally live musicians have been known to perform at raves, in addition to other types of performance artists such as go-go dancers and fire dancers. Euphoria (compilations)
''Euphoria'' is a series of dance music compilations that debuted on the Telstar Records label in early 1999. During the first year, ''Euphoria'' focused primarily on trance music until mid-2000 when ''Euphoria'' released the first chill-out album in the series and the first hard house album in late 2000. ''Euphoria'' was later spun off into a number of associated club nights around the UK, Ibiza and Cyprus. Over the course of three years, in excess of 500 tour dates were chalked up with tour DJs such as Adam White, Robert Van Ryn, Simon Webdale and Darren James. The compilations included box sets usually priced at around £20.00. The ''Euphoria'' albums were of high quality and still are highly collectible and the earlier versions are somewhat rare. Bonkers (compilation Album Series)
The ''Bonkers'' series was one of the leading happy hardcore compilation series in the UK. The first release was in 1996 on record label React (now Resist); it was available on 2xCD and 2xTC formats. DJs Sharkey and Hixxy were signed by React and the pair released "Bonkers", the first in a series of albums which has become the best-selling hardcore compilation series of all time. The series is on its nineteenth release as of 11 May 2009, with ''Bonkers: The Original Hardcore''. Background Bonkers 1-15 was also licensed to "Get over the records" in 2005 for Japanese branded releases. With Japanese edition Bonkers vol. 1 on going on sale 26 October 2005 with a full TV advert in Japanese. "Get over the records" only released Bonkers 1-7 in the Japanese market and have since 2007 stopped releasing albums altogether.
