Raštak
Raštak () is a village in the municipality of Gazi Baba, North Macedonia. Demographics In statistics gathered by Vasil Kanchov in 1900, the village was inhabited by 270 Muslim Albanians and 230 Orthodox Bulgarians.Vasil Kanchov (1900). Gazi Baba Municipality
Gazi Baba (, ) is one of the ten municipalities that make up the City of Skopje, the capital of North Macedonia. The municipality administration consists of a council and mayor. The Serbs are one of the constitutional ethnic groups of North Macedonia (, sr-Cyrl-Latn, Срби у Северној Македонији, Srbi u Severnoj Makedoniji), numbering about 24,000 inhabitants (2021 census). Eastern Orthodoxy In Bulgaria
The Eastern Orthodox Church in Bulgaria has deep roots, extending back to the 5th and 7th centuries when the Slavs and the Bulgars, respectively, adopted Byzantine Christianity in the period of the First Bulgarian Empire (681-1018). Prior to this official conversion, Christianity had spread to the region during Roman and early Byzantine times. After the 1054 Great Schism, the Church of Bulgaria remained in communion with the Ecumenical Patriarchate of Constantinople and other Eastern Orthodox Churches. Vasil Kanchov
Vasil Kanchov (26 July 1862 – 6 February 1902) was a geographer, ethnographer and teacher who served as Minister of Education of Bulgaria. Early life and education Vasil Kanchov was born in Vratsa. Upon graduating from High school in Lom, Bulgaria, and later he entered the University of Harkov, then in the Russian Empire. During the Serbo-Bulgarian War 1885 he suspended his education and took part in the war. Later, he went on to pursue studies at universities in Munich and Stuttgart, but in 1888 he interrupted his education again due to an illness. Career In the following years Kanchov was a Bulgarian teacher in Macedonia.
