Raúl Baillères Chávez (Silao, Guanajuato, Mexico, 1895 – Mexico City, Mexico, 1967) was a Mexican businessman. He founded the Instituto Tecnológico Autónomo de México (ITAM) on 29 March 1946. His son, Alberto Baillères, was at the time of his death the second richest man in Mexico, and ninth in Latin America, according to ''Forbes'' magazine. Silao is a municipality in the west-central part of the state of Guanajuato in Mexico. Its seat is the city of the same name. The Autonomous Technological Institute of Mexico (), commonly known as ITAM, is a private university located in Mexico City. It is one of Mexico's most important institutions of higher learning; highly prestigious in the social sciences.
