Razorlight
Razorlight are an English indie rock band, formed in 2002 in London by lead singer and guitarist Johnny Borrell. Along with Borrell, the current line-up of the band is composed of founding members Björn Ågren on guitar and bassist Carl Dalemo, as well as drummer Andy Burrows. This lineup is a reunion of the lineup from the band's second and third albums. The band have gone through several line-up changes, with Borrell remaining the sole permanent member. They released three studio albums before splitting up in 2014. The band reformed in 2017 and released the album '' Olympus Sleeping'' in 2018. They are best known for the singles " Golden Touch", " Somewhere Else", " In The Morning" and "America", the latter of which was a number-one single on the UK Singles Chart in 2006. ''Razorlight'' is the second studio album by English indie rock band Razorlight. The album was released on 17 July 2006 in the United Kingdom and debuted at number 1 on the UK Albums Chart. The band achieved their first and only number one hit from this album, with "America (Razorlight song), America" peaking at the top of the UK Singles Chart in October 2006. The song also peaked at number 6 in Ireland, number 9 in the Netherlands, number 10 in New Zealand, number 17 in Austria, number 21 in Belgium, number 22 in France, number 29 in Switzerland and number 38 in Germany. "Before I Fall to Pieces" was a UK top 20 hit too, as was "In the Morning (Razorlight song), In the Morning". "Hold On" was a minor hit. The album has a more mature sound than their debut, and received a mixed reception. "America" is a song by English indie rock band Razorlight, included as the fourth track on their self-titled second studio album (2006). It was written by Johnny Borrell and Andy Burrows (credited to Borrell, Burrows, and Razorlight) and was also released as the second single from that album on 2 October 2006. The song garnered a negative reception from critics for its attempt at both political commentary and transatlantic crossover appeal. ''Up All Night'' is the debut album by English indie rock band Razorlight, released on 28 June 2004. The album was mainly recorded at Sawmills Studio and mixed at Sphere Studios by John Cornfield. The album garnered favourable reviews, but critics questioned the band's influence-filled musicianship throughout the tracks. The song was released on 3 July 2006 as the lead single from that album, peaking at number three on the UK Singles Chart. Johnny Borrell
Jonathan Edward Borrell (born 4 April 1980) is an English guitarist and singer, currently the frontman of the rock band Razorlight, of which he is the only consistent original member. Early life and career Borrell was born in Sutton, London. His father, New Zealand-born John Borrell, was a war correspondent; his mother was a primary school teacher in Tottenham. His parents divorced when he was young. Borrell lived at Highgate, where he attended Highgate School. He moved to Camden School for Girls for sixth form. Borrell was involved in music and the Camden scene while still at school. At 17 he played bass guitar in a band called Violet alongside Paul Rose, aka dubstep pioneer Scuba (musician), who regularly played gigs on the Camden circuit. The band recorded an EP and started to gain some recognition before splitting acrimoniously live on stage at Dublin Castle in late '97 . Andy Burrows
Andrew William Burrows (born 30 June 1979) is an English songwriter and musician. He is best known as the drummer for Razorlight from 2004 until 2009 before rejoining in 2021. He has also served as the drummer for We Are Scientists from 2009 to 2014. After he left Razorlight in 2009, Burrows went on to enjoy success as a solo artist and a soundtrack composer. Biography Early life Burrows was born on 30 June 1979 in Winchester and he was educated at The Westgate School. He stated that the first albums he bought were ''Bad'' by Michael Jackson and a compilation album titled ''Ballads'' by The Beatles. "Somewhere Else" is a song by English indie rock band Razorlight, and was featured as a bonus track on the 2005 re-release of their debut album, '' Up All Night''. It was their first new material following that album and the first A-side recorded with drummer Andy Burrows. It became their biggest hit to date in the United Kingdom at the time when released as a single, debuting at number two in the UK Singles Chart, only to be bettered by "America", which charted at number one in October 2006. Reni Lane (born Reni Jablonsky; January 10, 1988) is an American alt pop/rock artist and singer-songwriter. Hailing from Oregon, she lives in New York City.
