Ray Allan
Raymond George Kyle Allan (born 5 March 1955) is a Scottish retired footballer who made over 420 appearances in the Scottish League for Cowdenbeath as a goalkeeper. He is Cowdenbeath's record appearance-maker and was capped by Scotland at junior level. Personal life Allan is the grandson of footballer George Kyle. Cowdenbeath
Cowdenbeath () is a town and burgh in west Fife, Scotland. It is north-east of Dunfermline and north of the capital, Edinburgh. The town grew up around the extensive coalfields of the area and became a police burgh in 1890. According to a 2008 estimate, the town has a population of 14,081. 1995–96 Scottish Third Division
The 1995–96 Scottish Football League Third Division was the 2nd season in the format of ten teams in the fourth-tier of Scottish football. The season started on 11 August 1995 and ended on 3 May 1996. Livingston F.C. finished top and were promoted alongside runners-up Brechin City. Both teams were promoted straight back to the Second Division having both been relegated the previous season. Albion Rovers finished bottom for a second consecutive season. Teams for 1995–96 Forfar Athletic as champions of the previous season were directly promoted to the 1995–96 Scottish Second Division alongside runners-up Montrose. They were replaced by Meadowbank Thistle and Brechin City who finished second bottom and bottom of the 1994–95 Scottish Second Division respectively. The Scottish Football League Third Division was the fourth tier of the Scottish football league system between 1994 and 2013. History The Scottish football league system had operated with three divisions in the Scottish Football League (SFL) from 1975. In 1994, as part of reconstruction to allow the admission of Inverness Caledonian Thistle and Ross County to the league, the SFL was recalibrated to give four divisions of 10 teams. The fourth tier was named the Third Division. In 1998, the Premier Division (top flight) clubs broke away to form the Scottish Premier League (SPL). The Third Division continued as the fourth tier of the league system, but was now the third tier of the SFL. In 2013, the SFL and SPL merged to form the Scottish Professional Football League (SPFL).
