Ray Alexander (gridiron Football)
Vernest Raynard Alexander (born January 8, 1962) is a former gridiron football wide receiver in the National Football League (NFL) for the Denver Broncos and Dallas Cowboys. He also played eight seasons in the Canadian Football League (CFL) for three teams. He played college football at Florida A&M University. Early life Alexander attended John Shaw High School, before moving on to Florida A&M University. He became a starter at wide receiver as a sophomore, posting 38 receptions for 535 yards and one touchdown. The next year, he registered 41 receptions for 941 yards and 10 touchdowns. He was a dominant player as a senior, earning MEAC offensive player of the year honors, while tallying 57 receptions for 1,079 yards and 9 touchdowns. Zander Hollander
Zander Hollander (March 24, 1923 – April 11, 2014) was an American sportswriter, journalist, editor and archivist. He served as a prolific supplier of encyclopedias on every major sport, editing, writing or packaging nearly 300 books over a professional career that spanned 45 years. Born as Alexander Hollander in Brooklyn, New York, he grew up in Far Rockaway, Queens. At age 14, he found his emerging sports ability writing columns for a neighborhood newspaper, and then in high school, he wrote for the ''Long Island Daily Press'' and the ''New York World-Telegram''. He later attended Queens College but left to serve in the Army Air Forces, assigned to an Army newspaper in Hawaii. After his discharge, he enrolled at City College of New York but did not graduate. Michael Irvin
Michael Jerome Irvin (born March 5, 1966) is an American sports commentator and former professional football player. He played his entire 12-year career as a wide receiver for the Dallas Cowboys of the National Football League (NFL). In 2007, he was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame. Irvin played college football for the Miami Hurricanes and was selected in the first round of the 1988 NFL draft by the Dallas Cowboys. He spent his entire 12-year NFL career from 1988 to 1999 with the Cowboys before it ended abruptly from a cervical fracture of his spine sustained in a game against the Philadelphia Eagles at Veterans Stadium on October 10, 1999, in which Irvin was carted off the field and transported to a Philadelphia hospital. Mike Sherrard
Michael Watson Sherrard (born June 21, 1963) is an American former professional football player who was a wide receiver in the National Football League (NFL) for the Dallas Cowboys, San Francisco 49ers, New York Giants, and Denver Broncos. He played college football for the UCLA Bruins. Sherrard was selected in the first round of the 1986 NFL draft. Early life Sherrard attended Chico High School in Chico, California, where he was a multi-sport athlete, lettering in football, basketball, baseball and track. He moved on to UCLA as an unrecruited walk-on athlete and was redshirted after breaking his finger in fall practice. The injured reserve list ( IR list) is a designation used in North American professional sports leagues for athletes who suffer injuries and become unable to play. The exact name of the list varies by league; it is known as "injured reserve" in the National Football League (NFL) and National Hockey League (NHL), the "injured list" in the Canadian Football League (CFL), and the injured list (historically known as the "disabled list") in Major League Baseball (MLB). The National Basketball Association (NBA) does not have a direct analog to an injured reserve list, instead using a more general-purpose "inactive list" that does not require a player to be injured. In the National Football League (NFL), training camp refers to the time before the season commences. During this time, teams sometimes congregate at an outside location, usually a university, to conduct training camp for at least the first few weeks. This is similar to baseball's spring training. Training camp is used in several different ways. New players and coaches use it to acclimate themselves to new teammates and systems. For younger players, it serves as a period of evaluation; for veterans, it is time to return to form. Training camp is divided into several different components. The first is scrimmages.
