Rawlco Radio Ltd. is a media company based in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada. The company is the sole proprietor of seven radio stations in the provinces of Alberta and Saskatchewan. The Rawlco Radio Corporate Office is just south of Central Business District, Saskatoon, Downtown Saskatoon, overlooking the South Saskatchewan River, at 715 Saskatchewan Crescent West. This complex also is home to their local stations; CKOM, CFMC-FM, CFMC and CJDJ-FM, CJDJ. History Started in 1946 by Edward Rawlinson (1912–1992), a Saskatchewan resident born in Qu'Appelle, Saskatchewan, Qu'Appelle, it became one of Canada's most successful broadcasting companies. Rawlinson had a fascination for radio broadcasting, and in 1946 he purchased CKBI (AM), CKBI radio in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan, and soon after became chairman of his own company, Rawlco Communications. Maclean-Hunter (M-H) was a Canadian communications company, which had diversified holdings in radio, television, magazines, newspapers and cable television distribution. History The company began in 1887, when brothers John Bayne Maclean and Hugh Cameron Maclean launched their first trade publication, ''Canadian Grocer & General Storekeeper''. CFMM-FM is a radio station in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan. Owned by the Jim Pattison Group, it broadcasts a CHR/Top 40 format branded as ''Power 99''. CIUP-FM (99.3 FM, ''Up! 99.3'') is a radio station in Edmonton, Alberta. Owned by the Jim Pattison Group, it broadcasts an adult hits format. History The station received approval by the CRTC in July 2005 and was launched in September of that year for on-air testing. The station officially debuted at 2 p.m. on December 8, 2005 as CHMC-FM with a smooth jazz format branded as ''Magic 99''. Magic's first song was Michael Bublé's '' Sway''. On October 19, 2010, the station dropped its smooth jazz format, in favor of its current adult hits format as ''Up! 99.3'', and adopted its current callsign. CFFR (660 AM) is a commercial radio station in Calgary, Alberta, broadcasting an all-news radio format. It is owned by Rogers Radio and is branded as ''660 NewsRadio Calgary''. The studios are on 7th Avenue Southwest in downtown Calgary. CFFR is a Class B station. It is powered at 50,000 watts, the maximum for Canadian AM stations. CKCK-FM is a radio station in Regina, Saskatchewan, Regina, Saskatchewan. Owned by Rawlco Communications, it broadcasts an adult hits format branded as ''Jack FM, Jack 94.5''. CJME (980 AM) is a radio station in Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada. Its format is news/ talk. It shares studios with sister stations CIZL-FM and CKCK-FM at 2401 Saskatchewan Drive in Regina. History CJME was founded and signed on the air on November 25, 1959, by a group of businessmen led by J. Marsh Ellis, a former radio salesman. Its original format was easy listening, but the station was not successful until it began playing top 40 music in 1963. In 1967, CJME was purchased by the Rawlinson family, owners of CKBI radio and CKBI-TV in Prince Albert. Their company later came to be called Rawlco Communications.
