Ravindra Yavagal
Pandit Ravindra Yavagal (born 1959) is an Indian tabla player, performer and music teacher from the state of Karnataka. An eminent artiste, he is both a soloist and an accompanist. He received Rajyotsava Award in 1995, Karnataka Kalashri for 2016–17 and Sangeet Natak Akademi Award in 2021 for his contributions. Early life Ravindra Yavagal was born in 1959 in a Kannadiga family to Ramachandra Yavagal and Parvathi Bai. Ramachandra was also a tabla player; he learnt tabla despite objections from his family. He hails from Dharwad district of Karnataka. Career Yavagal started learning tabla at the age of 4 from his father, later from Veeranna Kamkar of Gayathri Gayana Shaala in Hubli and further vigorous training from Sheshagiri Hanagal. Gangubai Hangal
Gangubai Hangal (05 March 1913 – 21 July 2009) was an Indian singer of the '' khayal'' genre of Hindustani classical music from Karnataka, who was known for her deep and powerful voice. Hangal belonged to the Kirana gharana. She was awarded the Padma Vibhushan, India's second highest civilian honour in 2002 and Sangeet Natak Akademi Fellowship, the highest award of Sangeet Natak Akademi, India's National Academy for Music and Performing Arts in 1996. Bhimsen Joshi
Bhimsen Gururaj Joshi (; ; 4 February 1922 – 24 January 2011), also known by the honorific prefix Pandit, was one of the greatest Indian vocalists in the Hindustani classical tradition from the Indian subcontinent. He is known for the ''khayal'' form of singing, as well as for his popular renditions of devotional music (''bhajans'' and ''abhangs''). Joshi belongs to the Kirana gharana tradition of Hindustani Classical Music. He is noted for his concerts, and between 1964 and 1982 Joshi toured Afghanistan, Italy, France, Canada and USA. Basavaraj Rajguru
Pandit Basavraj Rajguru (24 August 1920 – 1991) was a leading Indian classical vocalist in the Kirana gharana (singing style). Early life and training Basavraj was born into a family of scholars, astrologers and musicians in Yaliwal, a village in the north Karnataka district of Dharwad, a great centre of classical music. He was initiated into classical music at an early age by his father, who was himself a renowned Carnatic musician trained in Tanjavur. Basavaraj was fond of music from a very young age. He would try to persuade drama producers and actors to let him sing in their plays, and first became known while singing for Vamanrao Master’s traveling drama company. Ajoy Chakrabarty
Pandit Ajoy Chakrabarty (born 25 December 1952) is a Hindustani classical vocalist, composer, lyricist and an exponent of the Patiala-Kasur gharana. He was awarded with the Padma Bhushan, the third highest civilian award in India in 2020 and the Padma Shri, the fourth highest civilian award in India in 2011. Sakharam Prabhakar Jalgaonkar (1 January 1922 – 16 September 2009), known as Appa Jalgaonkar or Appasaheb Jalgaonkar, was an Indian harmonium player from the state of Maharashtra. Born in 1922 and adopted when he was two years old, he started to learn singing but had to stop due to voice change with the onset of puberty and later shifted to learn harmonium. He accompanied several Hindustani classical singers, tabla artistes and dancers in their performances.
