Ravil or Rawil (; the feminine form is Равиля ''Ravilya'') is a given name widespread among the Tatars and Bashkirs. The origin of the name remains uncertain. According to one version, it is derived from the Hebrew name Reuel (רְעוּאֵל) meaning "friend of God", whereas in the Tatar language it has three different meanings: "young man", "wanderer" or "traveler", and "the spring sun". Ravil Tagir (born 6 May 2003) is a professional footballer who plays as a defender for UAE Pro League club Al Jazira. Born in Kazakhstan, Tagir is a youth international for Turkey. Early years Tagir was born on 6 May 2003, in Taraz, Jambyl Region, Kazakhstan. His father, Gülali Tagir emigrated to Bursa in 2002, after his sister got married there. Ravil Safovych Safiullin (; born 4 February 1955) is a Ukrainian football executive and politician who served as Minister of Youth and Sports. Biography Ravil Safiullin was born in a Tatar family. Prior to his ministerial position, Safiullin was president of Professional Football League of Ukraine between 2000 and 2008. He is still the Honorary President of PFL Ukraine. Aged 23, Safiullin graduated from the Donetsk Medical Institute in 1978 as a hygienist and epidemiologist. From 1977 to 1993 he worked at medical service. From 1994 to 2000 he worked the vice-president of FC Shakhtar Donetsk. In 2000, he was elected as the president of Professional Football League of Ukraine. Ravil Nachaev (also ''Ravil Nagayev'', ; born June 17, 1974, in Tashkent) is an Uzbek former swimmer, who specialized in sprint freestyle and butterfly events. He is a three-time Olympian (1996, 2000, and 2004), and a gold medalist in the 50 m freestyle at the 2002 Asian Games in Busan, South Korea. Nachaev made his official debut, as a 22-year-old, at the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta. He failed to reach the top 16 final in any of his individual events, finishing forty-fifth in the 50 m freestyle (23.12), and forty-eighth in the 100 m butterfly (56.61). He also placed seventeenth, as a member of the Uzbekistan team, in the freestyle relay (3:28.33). Ravil Nezamovich Khabutdinov (; 15 December 1928 – 1 November 1997) was a weightlifter from Russia. He started training in weightlifting in 1948 while serving in the Soviet Army. In 1956, he finished third at the national championships, but was selected for the national team and won silver medals at the 1956 Summer Olympics and European championships, both times behind Ihor Rybak.
