Rarotonga (comics)
''Rarotonga'' was a Mexican comic book series in the ''Lágrimas, Risas y Amor'' comics published by Grupo Editorial Vid, EDAR which appeared between 1951 and 1998. The main character of the comic series was Rarotonga, a jungle queen of an Rarotonga, island of the same name who occupied her days dancing and romancing travelers. Within the publication were tears, laughter and love, and dedicated to mostly romantic-themed storylines. In 1978 a Mexican film of the same name directed by Raúl Ramírez was made using material from the comic. In 1992, the Mexican band Café Tacuba wrote a song called "Rarotonga" about the comic. Grupo Editorial Vid
Grupo Editorial Vid (also known as ''Vid'' or ''Mundo Vid'') was a Mexican comic, manga and books publisher. It was funded in the early 1940s as ''Editorial Argumentos'' (EDAR). Many of their books are sold from around 30 pesos for comics up to 60 Pesos for manga (approximately US$5–6). Both comics and manga are released monthly. Comics In the mid 1990s, Vid started publishing Marvel Comics, DC Comics, and Image Comics, among others, as well as some independent titles. In 2005, when Televisa acquired the rights to publish Marvel titles they stopped selling it. Romance comics are a genre of comic book, comic books that were most popular during the Golden Age of Comics. The market for comics, which had been growing rapidly throughout the 1940s, began to plummet after the end of World War II when military contracts to provide disposable reading matter to servicemen ended. jungle is land covered with dense forest and tangled vegetation, usually in tropical climates. Application of the term has varied greatly during the past century. Jungle Girls
A jungle girl (so-called, but usually adult woman) is an archetype or stock character, often used in popular fiction, of a female adventurer, superhero or even a damsel in distress living in a jungle or rainforest setting. A prehistoric depiction is a caveman, cave girl. Description Jungle girls are generally depicted as wearing either a scanty animal print (usually leopard print, leopard) bikini or some type of jungle dress made from fur, leather, or sometimes vegetation. Most are barefoot while some are shown in primitive shoes. Some are feral children; some come from a wealthy, educated family who grew up in the jungle. Alondra (telenovela)
''Alondra '' is a Mexican telenovela produced by Carla Estrada for Televisa in 1995. The story based on ''Casandra'' created by Yolanda Vargas Dulché. For personal reasons Yolanda Vargas Dulché changed the name of Casandra to Alondra in honor of her granddaughter Alondra de la Parra. It stars Gonzalo Vega, Ana Colchero and Ernesto Laguardia. Plot After the death of Alondra's mother, her father Baldomero, who feels sad and lonely, brings his sister Loreta and her two kids, Maria Elisa and Rigoberto to live in his house, hoping that Loreta will replace a mother to Alondra. But he is mistaken. Loreta hates Alondra, as she reminds her of Alondra's mother who used to be an actress and whom Baldomero's family never accepted. ''Gabriel y Gabriela'' is a Mexican telenovela produced by Patricia Lozano for Televisa in 1982. It starred by Ana Martín, Jorge Rivero, Jorge Martínez de Hoyos and Liliana Abud. Plot The first part of the story takes place in 1960's. It is the love story between Gabriela and Renato. The viewers will witness their marriage, the birth of their daughter, Gabriela, and Renato's death by Nicando's hand. The second part takes place in 1980's, Gabriela now an adult. She has a rebellious personality and she pretends to be a man in order to sail on a boat. She is later courted by two men: Carlos and Fernando. At the end it is unclear whom she marries, because the viewers only see a hand that receives her at the altar.
