Randi Heide Steen
Randi Heide Steen (15 December 1909 – 12 November 1990) was a Norwegian soprano singer. Biography Steen was born in Kristiania (now Oslo), Norway. Her parents, Harald Steen (1886–1941) and Signe Heide Steen (1881–1959), were both actors and singers who performed on stage and in opera. Her sister Kari Diesen (1914–1987) was a singer and revue actress. Her brother Harald Heide Steen (1911–1980) was a film actor. His son, Harald Heide-Steen Jr. (1939–2008), was a radio performer, actor, and comedian. Steen was a student of opera singer Borghild Langaard (1883–1939). She was also trained by vocalist Haldis Isene (1891–1978), wife of opera singer Ola Isene (1898–1973). She made her operetta debut at the Casino Theatre in Oslo during 1927 and her concert debut in 1931. She performed at both the National Theatre and at Chat Noir in Oslo. King's Medal Of Merit
The King's Medal of Merit (Norwegian: ''Kongens fortjenstmedalje'') is a Norwegian award. It was instituted in 1908 to reward meritorious achievements in the fields of art, science, business, and public service. It is divided in two classes: gold and silver. The medal in gold is rewarded for extraordinary achievements of importance to the nation and society while the medal in silver may be awarded for lesser achievements.It is suspended from a ribbon in the colours of the Royal Standard of Norway. The medal in gold is ranked eighth in the ranking of Norwegian orders and medals. The medal in silver is ranked 11th. Knut Helle
Knut Helle (19 December 1930 – 27 June 2015) was a Norwegian historian. A professor at the University of Bergen from 1973 to 2000, he specialized in the late medieval history of Norway. He has contributed to several large works. Early life, education and marriage He was born in Larvik as the son of school inspector Hermann Olai Helle (1893–1973) and teacher Berta Marie Malm (1906–1991). He was the older brother of politician Ingvar Lars Helle. The family moved to Hetland when Knut Helle was seventeen years old. He took the examen artium in Stavanger in 1949, and a teacher's education in Kristiansand in 1952. He studied philology in Oslo and Bergen, and graduated with the cand.philol. degree in 1957. His paper ''Omkring Bǫglungasǫgur'', on the Bagler sagas, was printed in 1959. In December 1957 he married Karen Blauuw, who would later become a professor. Anne Marit Jacobsen (born 7 November 1946) is a Norwegian stage and film actress. Biography Jacobsen was born in Oslo to sculptor Thorbjørn Sigurd Jacobsen and opera singer Randi Heide Steen. She is the cousin of actress and singer Trulte Heide Steen. She has been assigned to the National Theatre in Oslo since 1970, and has also participated in revue, television and film. Chat Noir
(French language, French for 'black cat') is a cabaret and revue theatre in Oslo, Norway. It was established in 1912 by Bokken Lasson. The current director is Tom Sterri. Establishment Chat Noir was established as a cabaret in 1912 by singer Bokken Lasson and her later husband, writer Vilhelm Dybwad, modelled after the Paris cabaret Le Chat Noir from the 19th century. During a visit to Paris in the early 1890s Bokken Lasson had found the inspiration of her life. She experienced the literary cabarets of the time, and performers such as Yvette Guilbert. The next years she toured European cities, wearing a self-composed costume, singing gypsy songs and playing lute, performing on the street, at restaurants, cabarets and occasionally in musical comedies. Chat Noir opened 1 March 1912 in the Tivoli building. Bokken Lasson managed the cabaret from 1912 to 1917.
