Ramón Montoya (baseball)
Ramón "Diablo" Montoya Lerma (8 December 1940 – 24 January 2018) was a Mexican professional baseball outfielder and Coach (baseball), coach. Montoya spent all his career in the Mexican League playing center field for the Diablos Rojos del México. Nicknamed "Diablo" (Devil), Montoya also participated in the Mexican Pacific League and played one season, in 1964, for the El Paso Diablos, El Paso Sun Kings of the Texas League. After retiring, he coached for the Diablos Rojos. Montoya was inducted into the Mexican Professional Baseball Hall of Fame as part of the class of 1990. Early career Montoya was born on 8 December 1940 in Mexicali, Baja California. Nicknamed "Diablo" since his early days in local Mexicali, Montoya was part of the Mexican squad that competed in the 1961 Amateur World Series played in Costa Rica, where they placed second with a 7–2 record. Outfielder
An outfielder is a person playing in one of the three defensive positions in baseball or softball, farthest from the batter. These defenders are the left fielder, the center fielder, and the right fielder. In baseball statistics, a hit (denoted by H), also called a base hit, is credited to a batting (baseball), batter when the batter safely reaches or passes first base after hitting the ball into fair ball, fair territory with neither the benefit of an error (baseball), error nor a fielder's choice. Run (baseball)
In baseball, a run is scored when a player advances around first, second and third base and returns safely to home plate, touching the bases in that order, before three outs are recorded and all obligations to reach base safely on batted balls are met or assured. A player may score by hitting a home run or by any combination of plays that puts him safely "on base" (that is, on first, second, or third) as a runner and subsequently brings him home. In baseball, an at bat (AB) or time at bat is a batter's turn batting against a pitcher. An at bat is different from a plate appearance. A batter is credited with a plate appearance regardless of what happens upon completion of his turn at bat, but a batter is charged with an at bat only if that plate appearance does not have one of the results enumerated below. Cananea Reyes
Benjamín "Cananea" Reyes Chávez (18 February 1937 — 11 November 1991) was a Mexican professional baseball player and manager who spent one season in 1981 as a coach for the Seattle Mariners of Major League Baseball. He served as their interim manager for two games, becoming the first (and only) Mexican native to direct an MLB team. As a manager in Mexico, Reyes led his teams to 12 league pennants and two Caribbean Series titles, and is considered one of the greatest Mexican managers in history. Algodoneros De Guasave
The Algodoneros de Guasave () are a professional baseball team in the Mexican Pacific League (LMP) based in Guasave, Sinaloa. They won the league championship in 1972. The original team was purchased in April 2014 by a group of investors led by Armando Navarro. The team was moved to Guadalajara and began play in the 2014-15 season as the third incarnation of the Charros de Jalisco.
