Ramstad () is a small farming village in Nærøysund Municipality in Trøndelag county, Norway. The village is located about half-way between the villages of Abelvær and Steine on an island near the mouth of the Foldafjord. It was the home of a family from which came several heroes in a group of legendary sagas called the ''Hrafnistumannasögur''. The islands of Nærøy were an old central meeting place, not only for the people of Namdalen, but also for people from neighbouring districts. Saga Locations
Sagas are prose stories and histories, composed in Iceland and to a lesser extent elsewhere in Scandinavia. Sölve
Sölve () was a sea-king who conquered Vendel-period Sweden by burning the Swedish king Eysteinn to death inside his hall. The ''Heimskringla'' relates that he was the son of Högne of Njardö, and that he had his home in Jutland, although according to the older source ''Historia Norwegiæ'', he was a Geat. He pillaged in the Baltic Sea and at night they made shore in the hundred of Lofond/Lovund (perhaps Lovön or the Lagunda Hundred) where they surrounded a house and set it on fire, killing everybody inside. In the house there was a feast where the Swedish king Eysteinn was invited. Then Sölve and his men arrived in Sigtuna (now Signhildsberg) and declared that the Swedes had to accept him as king. The Swedes refused and fought Sölve for eleven days until they lost. Sölve then ruled Sweden until the Swedes rebelled and killed him. Nærøya
Nærøya is an island in Nærøysund Municipality in Trøndelag county, Norway. The island lies along the southern entrance to the Nærøysundet strait, about south of the town of Rørvik. The Old Nærøy Church is located on the island, which historically was the namesake of the old Nærøy Municipality. Today, the island is owned by one family who farms part of the island. Folda, Trøndelag
Folda is a firth and a fjord in Trøndelag county, Norway. It is located within Flatanger Municipality, Namsos Municipality, and Nærøysund Municipality. The large wide firth is about long which then narrows into a fjord which is about long. The narrower fjord part of Folda is often called the ''Foldfjorden'' or ''Innerfolda''. Most of the fjord is very narrow, some places with steep cliffs. It has the largest length to width factor among Norway's fjords. The fjord is crossed by the Norwegian County Road 17 road using the Folda Bridge at the village of Foldereid. Spruce forests cover most areas around the fjord.
