The band's lineup—consisting of lead vocalist Till Lindemann, lead guitarist Richard Kruspe, rhythm guitarist Paul Landers, bassist Oliver Riedel, drummer Christoph Schneider, and keyboardist Christian "Flake" Lorenz—has remained unchanged throughout their history, along with their approach to songwriting, which consists of Lindemann writing and singing the lyrics over instrumental pieces the rest of the band has completed beforehand. Prior to their formation, some members were associated with the punk rock acts Feeling B and First Arsch. After winning a local contest, Rammstein was able to record Demo (music), demos and send them to different record labels, eventually signing with Motor Music. Working with producer Jacob Hellner, they released their debut album ''Herzeleid'' in 1995. Feuer Frei!
"Feuer frei!" () is a song by German industrial metal band Rammstein. The song was released as the fifth single from their third album '' Mutter''. The title is from the command to start shooting in German military language (literally "fire freely!") and can be compared to "fire at will" or "open fire". "Feuer frei!" is one of the band's most well known songs. Despite this, it does not feature on the band's greatest hits collection '' Made in Germany 1995–2011'', for reasons that have not been explained. The song is featured in the film '' xXx'' and during the '' CSI: Crime Scene Investigation'' episode "Slaves of Las Vegas". Mutter (song)
"Mutter" (German for "mother") is a power ballad by German Neue Deutsche Härte band Rammstein, released as the fourth single from the album of the same name. The single release includes "5/4", a song that is instrumental except for a Speak & Spell dialogue sample that was played as the intro for live shows since 2000, but wasn't released until 2002. Overview The song was confirmed by frontman Till Lindemann and guitarist Richard Kruspe to be a reference to their unhappy childhood relationships with their own mothers. The lyrics tell the story of a child not born from a womb but in an experiment, thus having no true father or mother. The lyrics describe his plan to kill both the mother "who never gave birth to him" and then himself. However, he fails to kill himself, instead ending up mutilated and no better off than before. The child begs and prays for strength, but his dead mother does not answer. The narrative of the song is similar to Mary Shelley's ''Frankenstein'', in that ... Ich Will
"Ich will" (German for "I Want") is a song by German Neue Deutsche Härte band Rammstein from their third studio album '' Mutter''. It was originally released in Germany in 2001. The German single contains a live cover of the Ramones song "Pet Sematary" sung by Rammstein keyboardist Christian "Flake" Lorenz. It is the walk-on song for Martin Schindler for the European Tour Music video The music video of "Ich will" features the band members staging a bank robbery, making it seem as realistic as possible. The video shows both the robbery and its aftermath, and moves between these two scenes. During the robbery scenes, the band is shown entering a bank wearing stockings over their heads, except for Flake, who has a very large and elaborate bomb strapped to his chest. They quickly remove their masks and head for the front desk. A bank employee reaches for the panic button, but she is seen by Richard, who presses her hand against the button, intentionally triggering the alarm. Th ... Links 2 3 4
"Links 2 3 4" (also spelled "Links 2-3-4"; English: "Left 2 3 4") is a song by German Neue Deutsche Härte band Rammstein. It was released as the second single from their third studio album, '' Mutter'', on 14 May 2001. It is a politically charged song, taking aim at early allegations of Nazism against the band by revealing that they are politically left-wing. The song was a top 40 hit in Germany, Austria, and Finland. Composition ''Links, zwo, drei, vier'' (“Left, two, three, four”) is the usual cadence that German-speaking drill instructors use to keep a marching formation in step, “left” referring to the left foot touching the ground. The form ''zwo'' for “two” (instead of normal ''zwei'') is an old variant that is now used in military and telephone contexts in order to avoid confusion with ''drei'' (“three”). The title accordingly represents a militaristic theme. Moreover it is an allusion to the revolutionary song '' Einheitsfrontlied'', written by Bert ... "Sonne" (German for "sun") is a song by German metal band Rammstein. It was released in 2001, as the first Single (Music), single from their album ''Mutter (album), Mutter''. According to Till Lindemann, the song was originally written as an entrance song for the boxer Vitali Klitschko, whose surname was also the working title of the song. The female vocal comes from Spectrasonic's "Symphony of Voices" sample library. The music video for the band's 2019 single "Deutschland (song), Deutschland" features a piano-based version of "Sonne" in the ending credits. Music video The video features the band as the Seven Dwarfs mining gold for Snow White. According to Paul Landers in the ''Making of Sonne'', the idea came from a video made by Oliver Riedel, who mixed the song with parts of ''Snow White.'' The role of Snow White was played by Yulia Stepanova. Live performances The song debuted as "Klitschko" on 16 April 2000. It was very different from the final version released in ''Mutte ...
