Celtnieks Rīga
Celtnieks Rīga ('Builder Riga') was a Latvian football club from Riga that won the Latvian Cup 3 times: in 1984, 1985 and 1986. History The team was established in the 1960s as ĒCK (, in Russian ''DSK''). Celtnieks made its debut in the Latvian SSR Championship in 1978. In the 1980s it was one of the strongest clubs in the Latvian league as it had finished second in the league in four successive seasons and for three consecutive seasons (1984–1986) it then won the Latvian Cup. Especially remarkable was the 1986 cup victory, when in the final game Celtnieks decisively beat its opponent team - Gauja Valmiera - by winning 6:0 under the leadership of managers such as Aldis Polis. Jurijs Jakovļevs from Celtnieks was the best goalscorer of the Latvian league in 1984, 1986 and 1987. Latvia Men's National Handball Team
The Latvia national handball team is the national handball team of Latvia and is controlled by the Latvian Handball Federation. It has competed since 1993, playing its opening match in the 1994 European Championship qualifiers against Cyprus on 15 April 1993 in Nicosia, winning 32:28. In 2019 the team qualified for the 2020 European Championships for the first time in their history, previously reaching the qualification play-off stage in 2005. The team has not yet qualified for neither the Olympic Games nor World Championships, with their best results so far being participation in the world qualifiers play-offs in 2004 and 2016. To this date Andris Gulbis has had the longest stint managing the team, working in 1998 and from 2005 to 2010. From 2017 til the end of Euro 2020 the team was managed by former player Armands Uščins. Handball
Handball (also known as team handball, European handball, Olympic handball or indoor handball) is a team sport in which two teams of seven players each (six outcourt players and a goalkeeper) pass a ball using their hands with the aim of throwing it into the goal of the opposing team. A standard match consists of two periods of 30 minutes, and the team that scores more goals wins. Modern handball is played on a court of , with a goal in the middle of each end. The 2020 EHF European Men's Handball Championship was the 14th edition of the tournament and the first to feature 24 national teams.
