Railjet is a high-speed rail service in Europe operated by Austrian Federal Railways (ÖBB) and Czech Railways (ČD). Siemens Viaggio Comfort
Siemens Viaggio Comfort is a brand of locomotive-hauled railroad passenger cars built by Siemens Mobility. The car was designed in the early 2000s and was based on the earlier Siemens Viaggio Classic railcars. The railcars were first used in 2008 on Railjet, a high-speed rail service in Europe operated by the Austrian Federal Railways (ÖBB) and Czech Railways (ČD). History Siemens first produced the Viaggio Comfort railcars in response to a request by the Austrian Federal Railways (ÖBB) for locomotive-hauled push-pull trainsets for its upcoming Railjet high-speed rail service. The Siemens Viaggio Next Level is a modular single-level non-traction multiple unit (NMU) built by Siemens Mobility. It is designed to be highly modular and configurable, including the number of coaches per set and floor height. The Western Railway () is a two-track, partly four-track, electrified railway line in Austria that runs from Vienna to Salzburg Hauptbahnhof, Salzburg via St. Pölten Hauptbahnhof, St. Pölten and Linz Hauptbahnhof and is one of the major lines of Austria. Salzburg-Tyrol Railway
The Salzburg-Tyrol Railway () is a main line railway in Austria. It runs through the states of Salzburg and Tyrol (North Tyrol) from the city of Salzburg to Wörgl and belongs to the core network (''Kernnetz'') of the Austrian Federal Railways (ÖBB). The section between Salzburg and Schwarzach- Sankt Veit is part of the Salzburg S-Bahn urban railway network. Course The standard gauge line runs along the Salzach valley, the Bischofshofen hub being of particular importance as the junction with the Enns Valley Railway to Selzthal in Styria. ÖBB Class 1116 (Taurus)
The EuroSprinter family of electric locomotives is a modular concept of locomotives for the European market built by Siemens Mobility. The internal Siemens product name is ES 64, with ES for EuroSprinter and the number 64 indicating the 6,400 kW power at rail. Additional information is given in the name on the usage (U as universal, P as prototype and F as freight) and on the number of electric power systems supported (e. g. 2 as two types, 4 as all four systems commonly used in Europe). Development The first prototype ES 64 P was built in 1992, as Deutsche Bahn AG was expected to issue a large order of locomotives as a replacement for the ageing Einheits-Elektrolokomotiven.
