Ragıp Başdağ (born June 9, 1978, in Trabzon, Turkey) is a Turkish footballer. During the 2002–03 season, Ragip was suspended from football for six months after having failed a doping test. He currently plays for A. Selcukspor in the midfielder position. Career Ragıp, is a product of Trabzonspor youth system. Ragip signed with Kayserispor for 4 years. In May 2009, he was released by Kayserispor, and subsequently joined Eskişehirspor for 2 years. Ragıp Gümüşpala
Ragıp Gümüşpala (1897 – 6 June 1964) was the 11th Chief of the General Staff of the Turkish Armed Forces and founder of the Justice Party in 1961. He died shortly afterwards, on 6 June 1964, in Istanbul. Biography Military life While he was a student at Edirne High School, he climbed into Talimgâha and in 1917 he was promoted to the rank of lieutenant. While he was Deputy Commander of the 63rd Regiment of the 12th Division, he was captured by the British on 2 October 1918 during the Battle of Nablus on the Sinai and Palestine Front. He remained in captivity until 6 October 1920. He returned from Istanbul to Ankara and joined the War of Independence on 13 December 1920. For his contributions to the National Struggle, he was awarded with the Red Stripe Medal of Independence. Ragip Jashari ( Serbo-Croat: ''Ragip Jašari''; November 11, 1961 – April 19, 1999), was an Albanian politician and activist. Early life and political activities Ragip Jashari was born in a village in the municipality of Lipljan, FPR Yugoslavia. He was an activist for the independence of Kosovo for which he was persecuted by the Yugoslav government. As president of the youth in Lipljan in 1988–1989, he objected the constitution of 1974 by supporting the 1989 Kosovo miners' strike in Kosovska Mitrovica. This was a political step to favour the promptness of Kosovo's youth for independence of the land. Ragıp Zarakolu
Ragıp Zarakolu (born 1948) is a Turkish human rights activist and publisher who has long faced legal harassment for publishing books on controversial subjects in Turkey, especially on minority and human rights in Turkey. Biography Ragıp Zarakolu was born in 1948 on Büyükada close to Istanbul. At that time his father, Remzi Zarakolu, was the district governor on that island. Ragıp Zarakolu grew up with members of the Greek and Armenian minority in Turkey. In 1968 he began writing for ''Ant'' and ''Yeni Ufuklar'' magazines. In 1971 a military junta assumed power in Turkey. Ragıp Zarakolu was tried on charges of secret relations to Amnesty International. He spent five months in prison, before the charges were dropped. In 1972 Ragıp Zarakolu was sentenced to 2 years' imprisonment for his article in the journal ''Ant'' (Pledge) on Ho Chi Minh and the Vietnam War. Koca Mehmet Ragıp Pasha (1698–1763) was an Ottoman statesman who served as a civil servant before 1744 as the provincial governor of Egypt from 1744 to 1748 and Grand Vizier from 1757 to 1763. He was also known as a poet. His epithet ''Koca'' means "great" or "giant" in Turkish. Early years His father was Şevki Mustafa, a bureaucrat in the Ottoman Empire. After completing his education, Mehmet Ragıp worked in various parts of the empire as a civil servant. He served as the chief treasurer in Baghdad (then a part of the Ottoman Empire). He was a member of Ottoman representatives in the Treaty of Belgrade in 1739. He was promoted to the post of ''reis ül-küttab'' (equivalent to a modern foreign minister) in 1740.
