Rafał Murawski
Rafał Murawski (, born 9 October 1981) is a Polish professional footballer who plays as a midfielder for Klasa B club Akademia Piłkarska 16 Gdynia, of which he is the founder. Club career Murawski was born in Malbork. While spending his youth club time mostly in Gdańsk, he signed his first senior contract with Arka Gdynia, where he spent four successful years. In early 2005, he moved to Amica Wronki. In July 2006, he moved to Lech Poznań after their merger with Amica. In the summer of 2009, he moved to Russian club Rubin Kazan on a three-year contract. However, in August 2011, he returned to Lech Poznań and signed a three-and-a-half-year contract. International career He made his debut on 15 November 2006 in the Euro 2008 qualifier match, against Belgium in Brussels. Malbork
Malbork (German: ''Marienburg'') is a town in the Pomeranian Voivodeship, Poland. It is the seat of Malbork County and has a population of 36,709 people as of 2024. The town is located on the Nogat river, in the historical region of Pomerelia. (; meaning "Extra Class" in Polish), officially known as PKO Bank Polski Ekstraklasa due to its Sponsor (commercial), sponsorship by PKO Bank Polski, is a professional association football league in Poland and the highest level of the Polish football league system. Polish League Cup (1999–2002)
The Polish League Cup () was a short lived cup competition in Poland spanning three editions from 1999 to 2002. The Polish League Cup was a newly created competition to revive the League Cup in Poland, which was last cancelled 21 years prior in 1978. The competition was presented and pushed by Zbigniew Boniek and Richard Raczkowski. They wanted the competition to have a high interest from the fans and to make games competitive. They did this by giving a large financial bonus for each round the team got into, with the winner earning a total of 1.3 million PLN. The format of the competition changed between its editions. The first edition was a two-legged knockout tournament with the final being a one-off game to win the competition. The second and third editions followed the same format but included teams from the II liga and saw the finals being played over two legs. I liga (, ), currently named Betclic I liga due to its sponsorship by Betclic, is the men's second professional association football division of the Polish football league system, below the Ekstraklasa and above the II liga via promotion/relegation systems. 2001–02 I Liga
The 2001–02 I liga (then known as the II liga) is the 54th season of the I liga, the second highest division in the Polish football league system since its establishment in 1949. The league is operated by the Polish Football Association (PZPN). The league is contested by 20 teams who competing for promotion to the 2002–03 Ekstraklasa. The regular season was played in a round-robin tournament. Each team played a total of 38 matches, half at home and half away. The champions and runners-up will receive automatic promotion while the 3rd- and 4th-placed teams will compete in Ekstraklasa's qualification play-offs. At the other end, the bottom six teams face automatic demotion to the II liga. The season began on 21 July 2001, and concluded on 5 May 2002. The Russian Cup () is a football competition held annually by the Football Union of Russia for professional and some amateur (only after a special permission and licensing by Russian Football Union) football clubs. The winner of the competition ordinarily got a spot in the UEFA Europa League first qualifying round. The Polish Cup in Association football, football ( ) is an annual Single-elimination tournament, knockout football competition for Polish football club (association football), football clubs, held continuously since 1950, and is the second most important national title in Polish football after the Ekstraklasa title. Due to mass participation of teams, the tournament is often called ''The Cup of the Thousand Teams'' ( ). Participation is open to any club registered with the PZPN, Polish FA, regardless of whether it competes in any league in the national pyramid or not.
