Rafael Rodríguez Vargas
Rafael Rodríguez Vargas is a Puerto Rican politician and former senator. He was a member of the Senate of Puerto Rico from 2001 to 2004 representing the Popular Democratic Party (PPD). He obtained a degree in Industrial Engineering (BSIE) from the University of Puerto Rico at Mayagüez, a master's degree in International Trade (MBA) Suma Laude from the Metropolitan University of Puerto Rico, and a Ph.D. in Philosophy and Letters with a concentration in History of Puerto Rico and the Caribbean (PhD) from the Center for Advanced Studies of Puerto Rico and the Caribbean. General elections were held in Puerto Rico on Tuesday, November 2, 2004. After a count by the State Commission of Elections, the winner was inaugurated to a four-year term as Governor of Puerto Rico on January 2, 2005. The Senate of Puerto Rico () is the upper house of the Legislative Assembly of Puerto Rico, the territorial legislature of Puerto Rico. The Senate, together with the House of Representatives of Puerto Rico, control the legislative branch of the government of Puerto Rico. The structure and responsibilities of the Senate are defined in Article III of the Constitution of Puerto Rico which vests all legislative power in the Legislative Assembly.
