Rafael Delgado (20 August 1853 - 20 May 1914) was a Mexican author. In 1896, he became a member of the Academia Mexicana de la Lengua, occupying the 12th (XII) chair. Biography Source: Delgado was born on 20 August 1853 in Córdoba, Veracruz, to Pedro Delgado and María de Jesús Sáinz. His parents were religious conservatives and moved the family to Orizaba after increasing liberal sentiment in Córdoba. Delgado earned a degree in education from the Colegio Nacional de Orizaba, where he subsequently taught literature and history. Rafael Delgado, former known as San Juan del Rio, is a municipality located in the mountainous central zone of the Mexican state of Veracruz, about 140 km from the state capital Xalapa. It has an area of . In 1831, the village of San Juan del Río constituted a municipality. By decree, on November 5, 1932, the municipality became known as Rafael Delgado, in honor of the author, a native of nearby Córdoba. Geography The municipality is bordered to the north by Orizaba and Ixmatlahuacan, to the east by Ixtaczoquitlán, to the south by San Andrés Tenejapan, Tlilapan and Nogales, and to the west by Río Blanco. Rafael Marcelo Delgado (born 13 January 1990) is an Argentine professional footballer who plays as a left-back for Belgrano. Career Delgado began with Rosario Central in 2011. He scored on his professional career debut on 4 April, netting the opening goal in a 3–0 win over Ferro Carril Oeste in Primera B Nacional. In his first three seasons, Delgado scored two goals in fifty-two matches including twenty-eight appearances during 2012–13 which ended with promotion to the Argentine Primera División. He went onto score twice in forty-four games in the top-flight. In January 2015, Delgado joined Estudiantes. He made his debut on 9 March versus San Lorenzo, prior to making three further appearances during the 2015 Argentine Primera División campaign. On 1 July 2015, seven months after arriving, Delgado departed Estudiantes to sign for Defensa y Justicia. He scored his first goal for Defensa in April 2016 during a 3–1 defeat to Atlético Tucumán.
