Radu Jercan (24 October 1945 – 29 September 2012) was a Romanian football forward and manager. International career Radu Jercan played two friendly games at international level for Romania, making his debut under coach Gheorghe Ola in a 4–2 away victory against Morocco. His second game was a 2–2 against Peru. Popești-Leordeni () is a town in Ilfov County, Muntenia, Romania, south of downtown Bucharest, although from the northern edge of the town to the southern edge of Bucharest the distance is less than . Most of its inhabitants commute to Bucharest, with Popești-Leordeni being seen as a satellite town of the Romanian capital. History Popești-Leordeni was historically the site of two separate villages — Popești (name derived from ''popă'', "priest", akin to the word " pope") and Leordeni (name derived from ''leurdă'', "ramsons" or ''Allium ursinum''). The villages were first attested during the 16th century: Leordeni was a domain of the Băleanu family of Wallachian boyars, while Popești was included in the lands belonging to ancestors of the chronicler Radu Popescu. Liga I
The Liga I (; ''First League''), also spelled as Liga 1, is a Romanian professional league for men's association football clubs. Currently sponsored by betting company Superbet, it is officially known as the SuperLiga. It is the country's top football competition, being contested by 16 clubs which take part in a promotion and relegation system with the Liga II. The teams play 30 matches each in the regular season, before entering the championship play-offs or the relegation play-outs according to their position in the regular table. The Liga I was established in 1909 and commenced play for the 1909–10 campaign, being currently on the 29th place in UEFA's league coefficient ranking list. It is administered by the Liga Profesionistă de Fotbal, also known by the acronym LPF.
