RTÉ 2fm, or 2FM as it is more commonly referred to, is an Irish radio station operated by RTÉ. The station specialises in current popular music and chart hits and is the second national radio station in Ireland. History The station commenced broadcasting on 31 May 1979 and has undergone numerous name and line-up changes. In 2008, the station had 17% of the national audience, making it the second most popular station in Ireland after RTÉ Radio 1 (23%). According to ''The Irish Times'', the 9amnoon slot is "the most critical in the 2fm schedule both in terms of audience figures and advertising revenue". RTÉ Lyric Fm
RTÉ Lyric FM (stylised as RTÉ lyric fm) is an Irish classical music, jazz and arts radio station, owned and operated by RTÉ. The station, which is based in Limerick, was launched in 1999 and is available on 96-99 FM throughout Ireland (in some areas also on DAB), on Sky Digital satellite in Ireland and the United Kingdom, and via the Internet worldwide. Death Of Gerry Ryan
RTÉ broadcaster Gerry Ryan died on 30 April 2010, aged 53. Ryan had been presenting ''The Gerry Ryan Show'' since 1988 and at the time of his death had the largest audience on RTÉ 2fm. Ryan also hosted several television series, including ''Secrets'', ''Gerry Ryan Tonight'', ''Ryantown'', ''Gerry Ryan's Hitlist'' and ''Operation Transformation (TV series), Operation Transformation'' and ''Ryan Confidential'', as well as one edition of ''The Late Late Show (Ireland), The Late Late Show'' in 2008. Gerard Ryan (4 June 1956 – 30 April 2010) was an Irish people, Irish presenter of radio and television employed by Raidió Teilifís Éireann (RTÉ). He presented ''The Gerry Ryan Show'' on radio station RTÉ 2fm each weekday morning from 1988 until Death of Gerry Ryan, hours before his sudden death. He was presented with a Jacob's Awards, Jacob's Award for this show in 1990. RTÉ Radio 1 Extra is a digital radio station produced by the Irish public-service broadcasting service Raidió Teilifís Éireann (RTÉ). RTÉ Gold is an Irish radio station broadcasting on Saorview, online, and Virgin Media. RTÉ Chill is a digital radio station of the Irish public-service broadcaster Raidió Teilifís Éireann (RTÉ). It broadcasts mostly chillout and ambient music as well as other low-tempo genres and typically features the output of such cutting-edge artists as Leftfield, The Orb, Sigur Rós, and Juana Molina. It started broadcasting in March 2008, but had an official launch alongside its sister services on 1 December 2008. RTÉjr Radio is a children's digital radio station of the Irish public-service broadcaster Raidió Teilifís Éireann. It is Ireland's first children's orientated radio station with a wide variety of programming from news, poetry, nursery rhymes, storytelling, dramas and more.
