RSO Records
RSO Records was a record label formed by rock and roll and musical theatre impresario Robert Stigwood and record executive Al Coury in 1973. The letters "RSO" stood for the Robert Stigwood Organisation. RSO managed the careers of several major acts, the Bee Gees, Yvonne Elliman, Cream, Eric Clapton, and Andy Gibb. The release of the soundtracks of '' Saturday Night Fever'' (over 50 million copies sold worldwide) and '' Grease'' (over 30 million copies sold worldwide), which were two of the best selling albums ever, made RSO one of the most financially successful labels of the 1970s. Additionally, the record label released the soundtracks to '' Fame'', '' Sparkle'', '' Meatballs'', '' The Empire Strikes Back'', '' Return of the Jedi'', ''Times Square and'' ''Grease 2''. Robert Stigwood
Robert Colin Stigwood (16 April 1934 – 4 January 2016) was an Australian-born British-resident music entrepreneur, film producer, and impresario, best known for managing musicians such as Cream, Andy Gibb, and the Bee Gees; theatrical productions such as ''Hair'' and ''Jesus Christ Superstar''; and film productions, including '' Grease'' and ''Saturday Night Fever''. Early life and education Robert Colin Stigwood was born on 16 April 1934 in Port Pirie, South Australia, the son of Gwendolyn (Burrows) and Gordon Stigwood. He was educated at Sacred Heart College in Adelaide. Career Stigwood hitchhiked to England in 1955. Among various early jobs, he worked at an institution for "backward teenage boys" in East Anglia. Atlantic Recording Corporation (simply known as Atlantic Records) is an American record label founded in October 1947 by Ahmet Ertegun and Herb Abramson. Over the course of its first two decades, starting from the release of its first recordings in January 1948, Atlantic earned a reputation as one of the most important American labels, specializing in jazz, R&B, and soul by Aretha Franklin, Ray Charles, Wilson Pickett, Sam and Dave, Ruth Brown and Otis Redding. The score from ''The Empire Strikes Back'' composed by John Williams. Between ''Star Wars'' and ''The Empire Strikes Back'', Williams had also worked with the London Symphony Orchestra for the scores to the films '' The Fury'', ''Superman'' and ''Dracula''. The score earned another Academy Award nomination for Williams. Again, the score was orchestrated by Herbert W.
