Queen Hyeondeok
Queen Hyeondeok (; 17 April 1417 – 10 August 1441), of the Andong Gwon clan, was the primary consort of Crown Prince Yi Hyang. She died giving birth to the future Danjong of Joseon and was posthumously honoured as Queen Hyeondeok () in 1450, later demoted by Sejo of Joseon after he deposed her son, then restored by Jungjong of Joseon. Biography Gwon Sun-im (권순임; 權順任) was born on 17 April 1417 into the Andong Gwon clan to Gwon Jeon and his second wife, Choi Ah-Ji, Lady Choi of the Haeju Choi clan. She was the eldest of 4 younger sisters and 1 younger brother. Around the age of 12-13, Lady Gwon entered the palace in 1431 alongside two other girls, Lady Jeong of the Dongrae Jeong clan and Lady Hong of the Namyang Hong clan. Gwon
Kwon also written as Gwon ( ) is a Korean family name. Some sources list as many as 56 clans, but most of them were merged with the Andong Gwon clan under the Sijeung-gong faction soon after the establishment of the Goryeo Kingdom. Andong Kwon clan The founder of Andong Kwon clan, Kim Haeng (金幸), was originally a royalty of the Silla Gyeongju Kim clan. He participated in the Battle of Gochang and helped Taejo, who established the Kingdom of Goryeo in 918; the new king bestowed upon Kim Haeng a new surname: Kwon (權), as he could judge the situation correctly and achieve a purpose flexibly (能炳幾達權). Royal Noble Consort Suk of the Namyang Hong clan (; 1418 – ?) was a concubine of King Munjong of Joseon. Biography Early life The future Suk-bin was born in 1418, as the daughter of Hong Sim (), the son of Hong Deok-bo (), and Lady Yun of the Papyeong Yun clan (). The exact date of Lady Hong's birth is not clear, but in the Annals of the Joseon Dynasty it was mentioned that she was younger than Crown Princess Gwon. She had one younger brother, Hong Eung, Internal Prince Ikseong (), who was a member of the State Council of Joseon. Andong Kwon Clan
Andong () is a city in South Korea, and the capital of North Gyeongsang Province. It is the largest city in the northern part of the province with a population of 167,821 as of October 2010. Veritable Records Of The Joseon Dynasty
The ''Veritable Records of the Joseon Dynasty'', sometimes called ''sillok'' () for short, are state-compiled and published records, called Veritable Records, documenting the reigns of the kings of the Joseon dynasty in Korea. Kept from 1392 to 1865, they comprise 1,893 volumes and are thought to be the longest continual documentation of a single dynasty in the world. The records of the last two monarchs are believed to have been influenced by the Japanese colonial rule and, therefore, their credibility compromised. Excluding the records of the last two kings, the ''sillok'' is designated as the 151st national treasure of South Korea and listed in UNESCO's Memory of the World registry. The Great King, Sejong
''The Great King, Sejong'' () is a 2008 South Korean historical television series depicting the life of the fourth monarch of Joseon, Sejong the Great (played by Kim Sang-kyung). Considered one of the greatest kings in Korean history, Sejong created Hangul, the Korean alphabet.
