Quebec Provincial By-elections, April 15, 2002
Provincial by-elections were held in Quebec in 2002, on the following dates: April 15 Elections were held in the Provincial electoral district, Quebec provincial electoral districts of Anjou (electoral district), Anjou, Saguenay (provincial electoral district), Saguenay and Viger (provincial electoral district), Viger. They resulted in the election of two Liberal Party of Quebec, Liberals and one Action démocratique du Québec, ADQ Member to the National Assembly of Quebec. The Liberals unsurprisingly won clear victories in two Montreal-based districts: * Lise Thériault in Anjou; * Anna Mancuso in Viger. For the first time ever, an Action démocratique du Québec, ADQ candidate other than Mario Dumont was sent to the National Assembly of Quebec: François Corriveau won the election in the district of Saguenay, one of the Parti Québécois's traditional strongholds. Provincial Electoral District
An electoral district in Canada is a geographical constituency upon which Canada's representative democracy is based. It is officially known in Canadian French as a ''circonscription'' but frequently called a ''comté'' (county). In Canadian English it is also colloquially, and more commonly known as a riding or ''constituency''.
