Quebec Tankard
The Hardline Quebec Tankard (French: ''Tankard Hardline''), formerly the Quebec Men's Provincial Curling Championship is the Quebec provincial championship for men's curling. The tournament is run by Curling Québec, the provincial curling association. The winner represents Team Quebec at the Tim Hortons Brier. The provincial champion receives the McIntyre Trophy. A separate team represented Montreal until 1931. Qualifying 16 teams play in the Quebec provincial. The teams that qualify are the defending champions, the provincial tour champion, the three highest Quebec teams on the Canadian Team Ranking System, the three highest earning teams on the Quebec tour, six regional qualifiers and two last chance qualifiers. Alma, Quebec
Alma (; 2021 Town population: 30,331; UA Population 20,274) is a town in Saguenay–Lac-Saint-Jean, in the Canadian province of Quebec. History The present town of Alma was formed in 1962 from the merging of four villages: Isle-Maligne, Naudville, Riverbend and St-Joseph d'Alma. The oldest of the villages, St-Joseph-d'Alma, was founded in 1867 by Damase Boulanger. The area became an important industrial centre during the 1920s and 1930s with the construction of a hydro-electrical power station on the Grande-Décharge River, a paper mill (Price) and an aluminum smelting plant ( Alcan), all of which are still in activity today. In 2002, Alma merged with the Municipality of Delisle. Both modern day Alma and St-Joseph d'Alma are named after the Battle of the Alma. The 2019 WFG Tankard ''(French: Tankard WFG 2019)'' the Quebec men's provincial curling championship was held from January 13 to 20 at the Arèna de Grand-Mère in Grand-Mère, Quebec. The winning Martin Crête team represented Quebec at the 2019 Tim Hortons Brier in Brandon, Manitoba. Serge Reid
Serge Reid (born c. 1963) is a Canadian curler from Jonquière, Quebec. Reid is the defending provincial champion skip for Quebec. He and his team of François Gionest, Simon Collin and Steeve Villeneuve won their first provincial championship in 2010. This qualified them for the 2010 Tim Hortons Brier, where they were an unknown team to many of the other competitors. However, they won five of their eleven games, a respectable finish. As of 2014, Reid has played in 16 provincial championships. Reid has won four World Curling Tour events to date. In 2004 he won both the Charlevoix Casino Classic and the Coupe Saguenay de Curling. Robert Desjardins (curler)
Robert Desjardins (born March 16, 1970) is a Canadian curler from Chicoutimi, Quebec. He is a two-time Quebec provincial champion and a Canadian mixed doubles champion. Career Desjardins skipped a team at the 2010 Quebec provincials, but finished outside of the playoffs. The next year, Desjardins played as third for François Gagné, and finished fourth in the 2011 Quebec provincials after round robin play. They then upset the top two teams, skipped by Serge Reid and Jean-Michel Ménard, to win their first provincial championship and Brier appearance. They finished in tenth place at the Brier with a 3–8 win–loss record. Desjardins then skipped his own team in the following year's provincials, and edged an undefeated Philippe Lemay in the final in an extra end after losing to him in the page playoffs, winning his first provincial championship as skip. The 2012 Quebec Men's Provincial Curling Championship (also known as the Quebec Tankard) was held January 24–29, 2012 at the Club de Curling Kénogami in Jonquière, Quebec.
