Giulio Quaglio The Younger
Giulio Quaglio the Younger (1668–1751) was an Italian Baroque painter. He was part of the large Quaglio pedigree of Italian artists involved in architecture, indoor fresco decoration, and scenography (stage design) for the court theaters. He was born and died in Laino, a mountain village at Como. Giulio II was involved in fresco decoration in Friuli, including for the chapel of Monte di Pietà at Udine. His most highly valued work is the painting of Saint Nicholas' Cathedral in Ljubljana. He also painted the central hall of Meerscheinschlössl in Graz. He had two sons, Domenico and Giovanni Maria Quaglio. Giulio Quaglio (painter)
Giulio Quaglio the Elder (1610–1658 or after) was an Italian painter of frescoes. He was a follower of Tintoretto. He is known to have worked in Vienna, Salzburg, and Ljubljana. His son, Giulio Quaglio the Younger, was born in Laino and established himself in the Friuli about the end of the 17th century. Giulio the Younger, who died in 1720, is best known for his frescoes at the chapel of the Monte di Pietà, in Udine. Domenico Quaglio the Younger (January 1, 1787 – April 9, 1837) was a German painter, engraver, stage designer, and architect. He was the second son of Giuseppe Quaglio and part of the large Quaglio pedigree of Italian artists involved in architecture, indoor fresco decoration, and scenography for the court theaters. He was known as a landscape and architectural painter/decorator, including quadratura. He was born in Munich. He was taught perspective and scene-painting by his father, and engraving by Mettenleiter and Karl Hess. In 1819 he resigned his post as scene-painter, and occupied himself only with architecture, for which he obtained subjects in the Netherlands, Italy, France, and England. Franz Quaglio (22 April 1844, in Munich – 19 February 1920, in Wasserburg am Inn) was a German painter from a branch of the Quaglio painting family that had settled in Munich during the 18th Century. Lorenzo Quaglio The Younger
Lorenzo Quaglio the Younger (19 December 1793 – 15 March 1869) was a genre painter and lithographer, born in Munich to the long Italian pedigree of Quaglios. Life Quaglio studied under his father Joseph Quaglio and his brother Angelo Quaglio. He then went on to study at the Akademie München. He spent a few years, until 1812, working as a decorator of the court and national theaters in Munich. He spent time traveling through the Bavarian and Tirolian Alps. In 1812 his first lithography appeared, a study of nature. In 1820 he made a study of Bavarian folk costume. After 1834 he worked in Schloss Hohenschwangau. He died in Munich and is buried in the southern cemetery.
