Q School 2021 – Event 1
The 2021 Q School was a series of three snooker tournaments held at the start of the 2021–22 snooker season. An event for amateur players, it served as a qualification event for a place on the professional World Snooker Tour for the following two seasons. The events took place in May and June 2021 at the Ponds Forge International Sports Centre in Sheffield, England with a total 14 players qualifying via the three tournaments and the Order of Merit. Format The 2021 Q School consisted of three events. The three events had 196 entries competing for 14 places on the main tour. Four players qualified from each of the three events, with a further two places available from the Q Tour Order of Merit. All matches were the best of seven frames. Q School (snooker)
The Q School is an amateur snooker competition which serves as the qualification school for the World Snooker Tour. Overview Q School is established in 2011 as an attempt to streamline the qualification process and is held annually before the start of the professional season, where amateurs and ex-professionals who dropped out of the top 64 in Snooker world rankings, world rankings in previous seasons can compete for a two-year tour card to play on the Main Tour. It replaced the amateur tournament International Open Series, the former second-tier snooker series organised by the English Association of Snooker and Billiards (EASB). In 2022, a Q School branch in Bangkok was established for entrants from the Asia-Oceania region. 2 qualifying places were awarded to the winners whilst discontinuing qualification through Standings (sports), Order of Merit in Q School Europe. Michael Judge
Michael Judge (born 12 June 1975 in Dublin) is a former professional snooker player from Ireland. His best performance in a ranking event came in the 2004 Grand Prix, where he reached the semi-finals, and he reached his highest ranking, 24th, for the 2002–03 season. Career Judge qualified for the World Championship three times, his best performance coming in the 2001 tournament, after knocking Jimmy White out in qualifying and John Parrott in the first round, before being knocked out by fellow Dubliner Ken Doherty. He lost to eventual champion Peter Ebdon in the first round a year later. In 2006–07 he had something of a return to form, climbing 10 places in the rankings to 34th, after five successive falls from his career high of 24th, aided by a last 16 run in the Welsh Open. 2021–22 Q Tour
The 2021–22 Q Tour was a series of snooker tournaments that took place during the 2021–22 snooker season. The Q Tour is the second-tier tour, run by the World Professional Billiards and Snooker Association, for players not on the main World Snooker Tour. Initially announced in July 2020, the tour was delayed by a year and started in late 2021. A series of four events were organised with the leading money-winner gaining a place on the main tour for the 2022–23 snooker season. Si Jiahui led the list but had already got a place on tour, so Sean O´Sullivan, who finished second, got the place. The 16 highest-ranked players who had not already got a place on the main tour for the 2022–23 season, gained entry to a further event, the WPBSA Q Tour Playoff, the winner of which also got a place. Si Jiahui
Si Jiahui ( ; born 11 July 2002) is a Chinese professional snooker player. After training at the Wiraka Billiard Academy in Foshan, he moved to the United Kingdom aged 16 and earned a two-year tour card through the 2019 Q School for the 2019–20 and 2020–21 seasons. He lost his tour card after ending the 2020–21 season outside the top 64 in the world rankings, and competed as an amateur during the 2021–22 season, during which he defeated Shaun Murphy 6–5 in the first round of the 2021 UK Championship. After rejoining the professional tour at the start of the 2022–23 season, he reached his first ranking quarter-final at the 2022 European Masters. Haydon Pinhey
Haydon Pinhey is an English professional snooker player from Devon. He has earned a two-year card on the World Snooker Tour starting with the 2024–25 snooker season. Early life From Plymouth, Devon. Pinhey attended Sir John Hunt Community Sports College and worked at the Plaza Snooker Club on the Barbican of his home town. Currently Pinhey works and plays for the Legends Lounge within St Budeaux. Billy Castle
Billy Joe Castle (born 14 July 1992 in Marchwood, Hampshire) is an English professional snooker player. Career Castle came through the 2017 Q School by winning six matches to earn a two-year card on the World Snooker Tour for the 2017–18 and 2018–19 seasons. Duane Jones (snooker Player)
Duane Jones (born 30 April 1993) is a Welsh professional snooker player. Career Junior Jones started playing snooker aged twelve, joining his local snooker club and playing on full sized tables after being impressed at how easy Jimmy White made the game look on television. He later became Welsh under-16 captain and the youngest player to win the singles in the Aberdare Valley Snooker League. Amateur During the 2010–11 season, Jones started to feature in Players Tour Championship events, as well as Q School and ranking events as a top up player. In the 2013 Welsh Open, Jones beat former World Championship semi-finalist Andy Hicks in the opening round of qualifying 4–3, before a narrow 4–3 defeat to former world champion Neil Robertson in the following round. Dean Young (snooker Player)
Dean Young (born 7 January 2002) is a Scottish professional snooker player. Early life He is from Edinburgh, Scotland, and attended Firrhill High School. He began playing snooker at the age of seven years-old. He is based at the Locarno Snooker Club in Edinburgh. Career He won the U-21 Scotland National Snooker Championship in 2018 and 2019 defeating Aaron Graham on both occasions. Lei Peifan
Lei Peifan (; born 31 May 2003) is a Chinese professional snooker player. While ranked 84th in the world, he won his first ranking event in December 2024, the 2024 Scottish Open, by defeating Wu Yize 95 in the final. Kuldesh Johal (born 25 September 1980) is an English former professional snooker player. He competed on the main tour during the 2008/2009 and 2010/2011 seasons. Career Born in 1980, Johal played in Challenge Tour qualifying events in the early 2000s, without any success.
