Critical reception Kingsley Marshall of AllMusic gave the album 3 stars out of 5, saying, "The resultant aural complexity amounts to one of the tougher listening experiences to be found in the Mush catalog, but will offer endless joy to those in search of something advanced." Omid Walizadeh, also known as Omid or OD, is a hip hop producer based in Long Beach, California. He has produced tracks for the likes of Freestyle Fellowship, Busdriver, 2Mex, Subtitle, and Awol One. History Omid Walizadeh graduated from Loyola Marymount University with a bachelor's degree in recording arts. He has produced tracks since 1992. Inspired by the underground hip hop movement at the Good Life Cafe in the early 1990s, he released a collaborative album, ''Beneath the Surface'', in 1998. It featured over 30 rappers, mainly from Los Angeles. His solo debut album, ''Distant Drummer'', was released on Beneath the Surface in 2002. It was inspired by Dan Simmons' novel '' Hyperion'', the music of Sun Ra, among other things. In 2003, he released the album, ''Monolith'', on Mush Records. Mush Records is an American independent record label. It was founded by Robert Curcio and Cindy Roché in 1997. History Originally known as Dirty Loop Music, Mush Records started out as a recording studio in Cincinnati, Ohio, with the label formed as an outlet to release music that was being made in the studio. It catalogs more than three million album entries and 30 million tracks, as well as information on musicians and bands.
