Purhus Municipality
Until 1 January 2007 Purhus municipality was a municipality ( Danish, '' kommune'') in the former Aarhus County on the Jutland peninsula in central Denmark. The municipality covered an area of 169 km2, and had a total population of 8,547 (2005). Its last mayor was Berner Nielsen, a member of the Social Democrats (''Socialdemokraterne'') political party. The main town and the site of its municipal council is the town of Fårup. Purhus municipality ceased to exist as the result of ''Kommunalreformen'' ("The Municipality Reform" of 2007). Danish Language
Danish (; , ) is a North Germanic language spoken by about six million people, principally in and around Denmark. Communities of Danish speakers are also found in Greenland, the Faroe Islands, and the northern German region of Southern Schleswig, where it has minority language status. Municipalities Of Denmark
Denmark is divided into five regions, which contain 98 municipalities ( da, kommuner , sing.: ). The Capital Region has 29 municipalities, Southern Denmark 22, Central Denmark 19, Zealand 17 and North Denmark 11. This structure was established per an administrative reform (Danish: ''Strukturreformen''; English: (''The'') ''Structural Reform'') of the public sector of Denmark, effective 26 June 2005 (council elections 15 November 2005), which abolished the 13 counties (; singular ) and created five regions (; singular ) which unlike the counties (1970–2006) (Danish (singular) ''amtskommune'' ) are not municipalities. Aarhus County
Aarhus County or Århus County ( da, Århus Amt) is a former county of Denmark ( Danish: ''amt'') on the Jutland peninsula. It was created in 1970 by a merger of three counties: Århus, Randers and Skanderborg. Social Democrats (Denmark)
The Social Democrats ( da, Socialdemokraterne, ) is a social democratic political party in Denmark. A member of the Party of European Socialists (PES), the Social Democrats have 50 out of 179 members of the Danish parliament (following the latest Danish general election held in 2022), Folketing, and three out of fourteen MEPs elected from Denmark. Founded by Louis Pio in 1871, the party first entered the Folketing in the 1884 Danish Folketing election. Randers Municipality
Randers Municipality is a municipality ( Danish, '' kommune'') in Region Midtjylland on the Jutland peninsula in central Denmark. The municipality covers an area of , and has a population of 96,559 (as of 1 April 2014). Its mayor, since 1 January 2018 is Torben Hansen, a member of the Social Democrats. Langå Municipality
Until 1 January 2007 Langå municipality was a municipality (Danish, '' kommune'') in Aarhus County on the Jutland peninsula in central Denmark. The municipality covered an area of 133 km², and had a total population of 8.396 (2005). Its last mayor was Hanne Nielsen, a member of the Social Democrats (''Socialdemokraterne'') political party. The main town and site of its municipal council was the town of Langå. Langå municipality ceased to exist due to ''Kommunalreformen'' ("The Municipality Reform" of 2007). The southern part of Langå municipality was merged with Hadsten, Hammel, Hinnerup, and Hvorslev municipalities to form the new Favrskov municipality. Mariager Municipality
Until 1 January 2007 Mariager municipality was a municipality ( Danish, '' kommune'') in Aarhus County on the east coast of the Jutland peninsula in central Denmark. The municipality covered an area of 201 km², and had a total population of 8,300 (2005). Its last mayor was Erik Kirkegaard Mikkelsen, a member of the Conservative People's Party (''Det Konservative Folkeparti'') political party. The main town and the site of its municipal council was the town of Mariager. Mariager municipality ceased to exist as the result of ''Kommunalreformen'' ("The Municipality Reform" of 2007).
