Portland Public Schools (PPS) (officially Portland School District 1J) is a public school district located in Portland, Oregon, United States. It is the largest school district in the state of Oregon. It is a PK–12 district with an enrollment of more than 49,000 students. It comprises more than 100 locations, including 79 schools and other sites that are maintained within the district. Lloyd District
The Lloyd District is a primarily commercial neighborhood in the North and Northeast sections of Portland, Oregon. It is named after Ralph Lloyd (1875–1953), a California rancher, oilman, and real estate developer who moved to and started the development of the area. Description and history The Lloyd District is bounded by the Willamette River on the west, NE Broadway on the north, NE 18th Ave. on the east, and Interstate 84 on the south. Adjacent neighborhoods are Eliot and Irvington to the north, Sullivan's Gulch (with which it slightly overlaps) on the east, Kerns on the south, and Old Town Chinatown (via the Steel and Broadway bridges over the Willamette) to the west. Portable Classroom
A portable classroom (also known as a demountable or relocatable classroom, portables, bungalows), is a type of portable building installed at a school to temporarily and quickly provide additional classroom space where there is a shortage of capacity. They are designed so they may be removed once the capacity situation abates, whether by a permanent addition to the school, another school being opened in the area, or a reduction in student population. Such buildings would be installed much like a mobile home, with utilities often being attached to a main building to provide light and heat for the room. James John High School
James John High School was a public high school in the city of St. Johns, Oregon that later became part of Portland Public Schools after St. Johns was annexed to Portland in 1915. The school opened in 1911 and had four students in its first graduating class. It closed in 1923 after the completion of its replacement, Roosevelt High School. It was named for James John, the founder of the St. Johns settlement. History Construction of James John High School began in Fall 1909. The building was completed in September 1910 at a cost $40,000 ($ adjusted for inflation). In the school's first year, men's and women's basketball teams were formed. There were four students in the first graduating class in 1911. North Portland is one of the six sextants of Portland, Oregon. North Portland is a diverse mixture of residential, commercial, and industrial areas. It includes the Portland International Raceway, the University of Portland, and massive cargo facilities of the Port of Portland.
