The Pirita ( et, Pirita jõgi) is a long river in northern Estonia that drains into Tallinn Bay (part of the Gulf of Finland) in Pirita, Tallinn. The basin area of the Pirita is 799 km2. Pirita (subdistrict)
Pirita is a subdistrict ( et, asum) in the district of Pirita, Tallinn, the capital of Estonia. It is located around the estuary of the Pirita River to the Tallinn Bay. The subdistrict has a population of 960 (). Pirita was selected as the venue of the sailing events for the 1980 summer Olympics. During the preparations for the Olympics, sports buildings were built in Tallinn including the Pirita Yachting Centre and the Hotel Olümpia. Paunküla Reservoir
Paunküla Reservoir is located in Kiruvere, Kiruvere Village, Kose Parish, Harju County, Estonia near Ardu, Estonia, Ardu. The reservoir is part of the Tallinn water supply system and is connected to upstream Jägala (river), Jägala river via Sae-Paunküla Canal. Pirita (river), Pirita river runs isolated along the southern shore of the reservoir in a ditch and is only connected to the reservoir at the north-eastern end of the reservoir. Venues Of The 1980 Summer Olympics
For the 1980 Summer Olympics, a total of twenty-eight sports venues were used. The first venue used for the Games was built in 1923. With the creation of the Spartakiad in Moscow in 1928, more venues were constructed. Central Lenin Stadium Grand Arena was built in 1956 for that year's versions of the Spartkiad. A plan in 1971 to construct more sports venues by 1990 was initiated, but accelerated in 1974 when Moscow was awarded the 1980 Games. The new venues to be used for the Games were completed in 1979. During the Games themselves at the permanent road cycling venue, the first ever constructed, the largest margin of victory was recorded in the individual road race cycling event since 1928. The Grand Arena hosted the football final that was played in a rainstorm for the third straight Olympics. Jüri
Jüri is a small borough ( et, alevik) in Harju County, northern Estonia. It is located southeast of the capital Tallinn, by the Tallinn–Tartu road (E263), directly after the intersection with Tallinn Ring Road (nr. 11). Jüri is the administrative centre of Rae Parish. Jüri has a population of 3,426 as of 1 January 2012. In 2011, Jüri was the center of population of Estonia. Jüri has grown out of two parts: the centre of Sommerling kolkhoz (former Rosenhagen Manor) in the west and construction industry base with a residential area (former Jüri church and village) in the east. Kose
Kose is a small borough ( et, alevik) in Harju County, 39 kilometers (24 miles) southeast of Tallinn, Estonia. It is the administrative centre of Kose Parish and lies next to Pirita River.
